I am far too selfish to pass on my tip on getting a train back as i may want to get home before midnight…
But it is really disappointing to see how poor they are these days at sorting out a decent service from Wembley, especially as they have a depot they could stable trains trady to go right by the station
I did that too after the Southend game as I was with two fairly young children and wanted to avoid the crush at the station. All went okay but on the way out of Marylebone we stopped at Wembley and got a massive crush anyway 🤔. Just an hour or so later.

Amersham sounds sound, especially as the multi-storey car park should be very quiet on a Sunday.
And a good drinking establishment, the Beech House, within easy staggering distance (for those non-drivers).
Of all the stuff I've ever read on here, calling The Beech House a good drinking establishment might just be the worst
You can 1hr 17min, no changes.
I always thought after England games they skip the intermediate stations and only stop at (in this case) Aylesbury?

After the Sunderland game we got the train to Marylebone (no queue) then train back out. Probably saved a couple of hours. So there's another hack.
Uxbridge and Hillingdon are now in the ULEZ zone, so taking my car there will cost me an extra £12.50. Have to look at a Plan B.
Nooooooo!!! Don’t tell people that!! That was my tip

To be fair I actually need to go into London to get across to Kings Cross and up North again anyway so it was legit.
The friends I was with who did want to go the other way did seem to benefit from following me though…
