Two pens one after the other- neither given

Absolutely abject performance I'm afraid, no coherent game plan

Very very lucky to get a draw against a very ordinary team 15th in the league. Yet another shambles being managed by someone who has absolutely no EFL or equivalent experience.

The chap who thinks it was amusing to sing "Does she take it in the mouth?" is back.

  • Decent game probably should have won. But the Bloomy out fear of relegation period looks to be gone touch wood.

Couldn't help thinking Vokes would have had a field day against those centre backs today.

Not in the family stand, I hope.

Presumably one of their more cultivated fans.

  • We should have got at least a point at Bolton and won the game today. Been the better team against Peterborough, Bolton and now Oxford.

Oxford looked absolutely toothless, not a single shot on target, played a fair bit of hoofball and were one of the worst teams I’ve seen down here this season.

Play like we have the last three games and we should finish in or around them come the end of the season.

  • First clean sheet of the year by my calculations, not to be sniffed at considering how porous the defence has been this season - particularly in the latter stages.

I think i have said I’d be concerned if Vokes got injured but seems we had some decent chances today, just need to put them away.

  • I want to click on both thumbs but the system won’t let me.

  • First half excellent. Second half paled after Josh went off. Teams like us don’t go down. Another performance where we are slightly unlucky not to take all the points

  • Really optimistic for the rest of the season after that game. Nearly all of us on here were looking at the last three league fixtures (Posh, Bolton and PNL), with some trepidation. However, when you look back at those three games we could have taken 12 points.

We outplayed Oxford today, especially first half and could have gone in 3-0 up after the first half.

    Onto Wednesday. COYB!!!!

  • Excellent performance today from all with one exception.

Josh coming off did give them a little hope but on the whole encouraging stuff.

  • 12 points from 3 games would have been amazing! 😁

What on earth is the context of that last line?!

A few other non game related notes today.

A lot of marshal/medical activity, hope whoever got taken out is OK.

The old drummer had what seems a regular pep talk, marched out by a steward and some guy in a suit. About 5mins of animated pointing and gesticulating and he sloped back into the far side of the terrace.

Some random decided sprinting to the half way line on full time was clever. A long evening ahead for him.

And the inevitable head to head of a fan walking in the road and one of those foolarse drivers who think driving down Hilbottom after the game led to much swearing.

  • Sorry 9 points. Maths A level a distance past 😂😂😂

  • Back in the day at good old Loakes Park if memory serves me correct (mind you, that’s a big if) we had injuries to officials in two consecutive home games. No fourth official knocking about back then so one of the Wycombe supporters.(a regular , but I never knew his name.) being a trained referee who officiated in the Wycombe Sunday league, duly donned a tracksuit curtesy of the club and ran the line

  • Probably Bill or Ron Cleere. They were big Wycombe fans.

  • Not much to criticise after that, we played nice football in a good formation, all 11 acquitted themselves well, at no point did we panic or start playing for the draw. I'm still not sure we have a natural replacement for Vokes when he's out - not sure Kone would have had more luck than Lubala - but with Sadlier and McCleary putting some excellent balls in from the wings and Taylor looking sharp, we could've had a hatful.

  • Good performance, should've won, but I'm content with the draw.

I feared the worst when we ran out if steam after an hour, but thankfully we remained solid and although Oxford came into the game more, they rarely threatened.

On a “natural replacement for Vokes” thing - what’s happen to Ikpeazu? Did he leave vale and is now a free agent after losing out on a deal to Charlton?

edit: never mind - just seen he has a broken shoulder.

  • Uche Ikpeazu is currently recovering from surgery on a dislocated shoulder.

  • In all the years playing OU, I’ve rarely heard or read any balanced comments from their fans. Then again, I never bother seeking out any opposition fans posts - their opinions are largely irrelevant.

  • We are still letting too many points slip through our fingers, though we should be fine. Almost every game lately we look like a side at the right end of the table.

  • Memories of Jimmy Hill running the line in a track suit on M of the D. Jumpers for goal posts, isn’t it, yes.

Re recent results, the warm comfort of mid table obscurity beckons, and….. relax.

  • I’ve never considered him a solution and am glad we’ve not signed him. I wish him well with his recovery mind, and his future career, hopefully elsewhere.

  • Bill Cleere was also part of the boardroom at Loakes Park. Most of the furniture and fittings were moved from LP to AP in his van :-)

And he was awarded an MBE in January for services to football. Very much deserved.

  • So frustrating. Should have won that.

At least the Stokenchurch cutting remains in our hands for another year at least.

  • Work on Monday should be bearable after that given I'm in Oxford. That Lubala miss in the 1st half will haunt my dreams tonight but generally a very good performance. We are so lucky to have players of Sadlier and Scowen's class. They are a joy to watch.

  • Definitely not Bill Cleere, I know him by sight, and at that time he was still refereeing so would’ve been at another ground

  • Aside from Exeter away and Fleetwood at home I think we've played reasonably well since Christmas. Considering how poor we'd been before, those 10 or so league games have been pretty decent.

Last 3 we've collected 4 pts, with the opposition having also taken 4 pts. I read that as level par against sides going for promotion, which is more than satisfactory.

Sadlier continues to be really impressive. He's added real work rate to his game and provides adequate defensive cover now, which is terrific as he felt like a possible 'luxury' player initially. If he keeps playing that way he could get 20 goals/assists next season. Feels like a really decent partnership with KVY underlapping as well.

We're much more aggressive all over the pitch and it's great to see all 11 players at last combining into a collective team unit.

I'm easily the most optimistic I've been since the last game of the Gaz era.

  • If we can make it to the end of the season mid tableish and fingers crossed get to Wembley in the BSM I will call it a win.

  • Excellent performance but we must take our chances otherwise we will remain in the wrong end of the table. Clearly Lubala is important for the pressing game but doesn’t look much like a goal scorer, as highlighted by missing an open goal. Sadlier was a real threat. My man of the match. No idea why Bloomfield replaced him with Campbell. The pleasing aspect of today’s match is we tried to play far more football. Long may that continue.

  • I think the amount of running Sads and GMac have to do in this system means subbing them is pretty inevitable. As much as I'd love them to be able to do that for 100 minutes every week, you can see them slowing by the time they come off. Both were superb today.
