I think Matt has already said he now has cover for most positions and Chem can play either wing so good cover for GMac and Sadlier. I certainly don’t believe he would get a game if Matt feels he has better/fresh options.
I must admit that I was also a bit excited about Kodua following g is excellent display against us in the Trophy game. Hopefully we will see something of Kodua later in the season.
“He knows the environment at Wycombe, he’s played there and did well there. Matt Bloomfield was very focused on wanting to bring him in to help the team and almost guaranteed him playing every game. With that guarantee, it just felt right, and Chem wanted to do it as well.”
I don't think the Wolves bloke was even particularly wrong to say that (although it probably would have been better for Chem's sake that he didn't). It's been blown out of all proportion.
I am going to rein back my negativity on Campbell anyway. His style is not my favourite (if I was a defensive coach for the opposition I would just tell the defenders "don't bother tackling him the first time he beats you - just wait till he turns back and tries to beat you for a second time") but he did score three and assist one during his half season spell last year. He is by no means a flop, and someone we probably would have been excited by from 2020 back.
Maybe the key word/back out clause in that statement is "almost"? I believe it could almost come under the header of "solicitors get out clause"? Maybe Bargepole could help with that one. 😂
Surely the most important point is that unless it was written into a contract we are under no obligation to include any loan player in the match day squad. Promises may be made but intentions can change according to circumstances.
I completely agree about Chem Campbell. He’s quite a tricky customer on the ball but he nearly always seems to want to beat two or three defenders (which no doubt he has been able to do with ease in U21/U23 football).
Once he learns to release/cross the ball sooner he will be very effective. After all, pretty well all our players are now very good at quick neat passing in tight situations. Whether, being right footed, he will ever get anywhere near Steve Guppy level, I rather doubt. But you never know.
I remember Anis in his early days had a tendency to hold on to the ball for too long and could lose focus when the opposition had possession. He adapted his game accordingly and became a much better player and there’s no reason why Chem can’t do the same.
I agree, but one thing that stood Anis out so much was his extraordinary ability to learn. He would try outside, didn't work he would come inside, he scored so many goals from cutting in. Chem seems to have the same excellent technical abilities as last season and the same weaknesses. I am not sure he is learning at the same rate as Anis.
Anis immediately showed far more brilliance than Chem ever did. Chem is no better than Kai Kai. The only reason Chem even gets in the conversation with Mehmeti is because he was his replacement. Miles apart in terms of ability, even if you compare Chem to Anis’ debut season (which was against Championship opposition).
Its not a derby or barely a local rivalry against a non-entity of a club.
Fair enough. So why are you on your seventh page of discussing tomorrow's game, when I have to post here because we haven't even started a thread about it yet?

Where did this come from? Surely it hasn't been announced as such. Are people just inferring that's the reason he has been selected?
apparent, assumed, inferred, plucked, willed, dreamt...
A tweet from somebody in the Wolves management team saying his move to Wycombe was good because we'd promised he'd get a lot of playing time.
Agreed and because we keep talking about it, it gains more credibility as truth.
Generally, I don't agree with @glasshalffull about mutterings on social media gaining traction and being repeated as truth.
However, in this case he may be correct and I feel partly responsible having myself repeated the original rumour.
For the avoidance of doubt, I don't think there is anything in the rumour that we have guaranteed him game time.
Like Scott Carson was probably promised playing time at City 😂
Agreed. It happens all the time in the PL.
Oi, don't do two-time Champions League winner Scott Carson like that.
It wasn't even a tweet, was it? I thought it was on Wolves' official website. Either way, hasn't helped.

Still not Campbell's fault, though.
Cheers Blue and best of luck to the Chairboys. For what it’s worth I believe you’ll comfortably finish top half if you keep playing like that. 😉

Sadlier looking better than Chem at the moment, but who knows how things will develop?
As for any agreement, MB isn't going to say he's a back-up and will hardly get on the pitch.
Wonder what we told West Ham about Kodua?
"Yeah he'll have a whale of a time around the lads, even if we have got too many other loans to ever get him in the 18"
'He'll get to experience the end of season excitement of men's professional football...from the Director's Box'

Indeed. 'Almost' is an imprecise term, which is subject to interpretation.
But on any reasonable view, it means he is a starter or sub in over 50% of games for which he is fit and available.

Also Mehmeti was a Wycombe player so we gained the benefit of time invested in him to improve. Campbell is on loan.

Yes, Anis looked pretty special from his debut, albeit in small doses.
I don’t understand the reloaning of Campbell but hope he proves me wrong.
I preferred Kai Kai.
Kai kai was brilliant in the fullback position

Just makes victory even sweeter. Taste those salty PNL tears.
