First time the number 8 shirt has changed hands mid-season since Marcus Bean took over from Stuart Lewis 9 years ago. Thought it might have been longer really.
Hi guys - Argyle fan in peace! You’ve got a great pick up in Matt Butcher - sorry to see him go. What you can expect is a real team player, who always gives 100%. He came to us as sort of a back up midfielder, to give a bit of experience to a young midfield. He ended up being a great contributor last season and this: not flashy, but certainly very tidy. Seems to be a ripping bloke off the field as well.
Good luck for the rest of the season, I’m sure you’ll be fine 👍🏼
I can see Butcher being the modern-day equivalent of Bloomfield. Someone who's going to be the engine room of the team, box to box midfield and being someone we can count on to do a job while not standing out. I can't wait to see him in our midfielder and I think he'll become a real point to build the squad around!
With us finding it seemingly impossible to get Scowen and Potts on the field at the same time, this looks a vital signing, as we've been desperately short in midfield.
Thanks for the information and the best wishes. Twenty thumbs up for an Argyle fan posting on here is completely unheard of!
Good luck to you and your team for the rest of the season too. I can't speak for all on here but I certainly am looking forward to playing Plymouth again in the league - but can wait a season or so while you demonstrate the Championship sustainability thing.
Or just be here for a jolly as long as was ludicrously suggested. The guy has given up a big slice of his life and left family and friends behind thousands of miles away since the Couhigs acquired the club.
That is a very fair statement and it really brings it home to you just how much he has given up for our club. I doubt any Gas-roomer would do the same if they were in a similar situation.
Hold on a second - he has been paid (probably very handsomely) to work for his uncle for a couple of years abroad in a Boy's Own adventure job where he gets to play a real-life game of Championship Manager. No one forced him to do any of that.

Plymouth released him so he could sign for us and write up suggests he was very well thought of.
Sounds like a great signing!
very good signing that is

My Plymouth supporting, and Wycombe watching, friend rates him and thinks he’ll be a good fit here.
He looks like he would have passed all of GA personality tests with flying colours! I can't wait to see this guy in action!
A great signing this!
Good age and lots of League One experience.
Welcome to the club Matt!
Is it me, or is that slightly curious saying how we're "19th in league 1"
Factual, but a slight dig?
I worked with Butch at AFC Bournemouth. Great lad, great attitude and solid player.
Presume he is not cup tied for this thing we are still in.
Surprised at his age, thought he would be older.
Made up with this signing.

This looks like a really good signing. Plenty of League 1 experience. Clearly the Couhigs backing Bloomfield. I wonder if there will be anymore?
I'd like to see us go after a Baker and a Candlestick Maker now

Top lad (or gal) @ArgyleOz
Thanks @ArgyleOz, as I type I’m switching my phone torch on and singing ‘Three Little Birds’😉
Very much hope that Butcher is in alongside Potts and Scowen and that his arrival does not mark the departure of one of them.
🤣 👏🏼
We have a Baker and we used to have a Schumacher, but we don’t talk about him any more 😂

misread and thought we'd gone for this one
Matt's Dad has suggested a new kit to the club, I'm not sure how it's going to go down......
Does this mean Pete was here to see the new signings come in, rather than to kick Matty down Hillbottom Road?

Get a handful of that shirt.
