one success story to come from Wycombe, understand we have 30% sell.on clause , he must of.gome for 1 Mill plus.....if only our management /owners were that Good at negotiating
£1 million plus seems a lot of money to pay for a lad who has had one and a bit seasons in League 2, yes he has acquired himself well but it seems a gamble to me.
Is there a way we can blame Blooms or Max for this? Obviously there can be no mention of Gaz & Dobbo's involvement in the release, as this now beatified duo would never have made such a mistake.
who mentioned Blooms? club did well to get a hopefully good sell on however GA should have given him more of a chance, however if he was doing well for us we would not have got what wimbedon selling him for as historically we are poor negoistors
I think there were plenty of voices at the time questioning why such a hot talent was recruited in the summer with lots of talk of his scoring record at jr level etc was let go before he barely got a chance. This was compounded by the fact we all knew that Anis was going and therefore our attacking options were going to be Vokes and Hanlan who collectively didn't achieve double figures last season. This is not revisionist this was the story then and remains the story to this day. I think we had seen enough of Tjay to know that he had strengths but was not going to get us 15 goals.
It just seemed a bizarre transfer in terms of timing.
This is actually a rare shard of positive news. An argument can be made that possibly loaning him to Wimbledon would have been a good idea, but possibly AAH himself preferred a permanent move. If he had stayed it is unlikely we would have played to his strengths sufficiently for him to become an eye-catching goal scorer. At the time we did the best for him (and credit him for wanting to prove himself away from us) and with a decent sell-on clause we did well for the club.
If that's aimed at me, I've said a couple of times recently that I think it was a major mistake by Gareth to keep De Barr and sell al Hamadi. On the surface (and, yes, there may be more going on behind the scenes) it shows really poor judgement of the potential under his nose. And that's exactly what I wrote on here at the time of the sale as well.
I also recently dug up a quote from al Hamadi shortly after he signed saying that Bloomfield was instrumental in persuading him to come to Wycombe having met him on some course or other and keeping tabs on his development at Swansea, then actively lobbying him to consider Wycombe when he was released. It is a bitter regret for me, and I suspect to Matt as well, that when he came back to Marlow Road this time last year he was greeted at the gates by Tjay and not by Ali.
Clubs pay big money for goalscorers. He had a good half season last year and a lot of people were expecting less when this season started but he has delivered again.

Great stuff, @LeedsBlue. Me to a T.
Ipswich would pay millions for a young up and coming striker.
At least he won't be able to score against us next season
I wonder what percentage sell-on fee we have, and if we will ever see it…
50 yards of Tarmac
Pay off one manager

According to the Ipswich press, they understand that Wycombe have a 25% sell on clause.

If we get £250,000 out of it, who cares.
Great business by the club. Not to be snarled at.
acquitted not acquired - bloody spell checker!!!!
Have seen 25, 30, 40, 50% mooted by various sources.
Unfortunately the lowest one is the one coming out in press reports, not from gasroomers!
Is it or should he have stayed at the club and been given a chance? How we could do with a goal scorer now.
Just imagine what he'd have fetched for the club if he had been banging them in at League One level.
Excellent business
we would have sold him for less no doubt , we always get done over as seems club are terrible. negotiators., we have always sold on the cheap.
What happened to the 'planning permission next week' statement?
This is absolute catnip for Club Hindsight.

I've had a lot of trouble with my negoistors but the doctor reckons it should clear up with some antibiotics.
His name featured in a MOTD graphic yesterday, as one of the top 6 goal scorers this season excluding penalties, 17 goals so far this season.
funny lad you are . point.still stands.

That is a big move off the back of 1 good year. Hope to see him do very well there
