We could remember how much money Gaz and Dobbo saved us over the years with their incredibly shrewd, amazing value signings - but no, let's criticise one that got away and stroke our egos.
Bloody hell...that's a bit of a mind blower for the people who wanted Gaz out who now wax lyrical about the good old days of Gaz because they want MB out and it turns out MB played a big part in recruiting the best goalscorer we never had who was let go in the biggest mistake of the last ten years by Gareth Ainsworth.
as I said let's have a sensible conversation in person. surely its better than throwing offense.comments behind a profile...think you are obsessed with me as well as blooms
If we hadn't of sold AAH to Wimbledon last Jan we most likely would of lost him on the cheap in the summer. The alternative to keep him at the club would of been promising him more game time and offering him the safety of a long term contract, look how that's worked out with D'mani. It's a shame we couldn't get the best out of him here but that's football and I hope he continues to kick on and we can say we had a small part in his development
I think selling a player who wasn't in our plans then getting a sizeable chunk of a big transfer fee, what, 12 months later is pretty good business. Could he have been good for us? Maybe, we just don't know. That's football.
Perhaps this was the deal we've been waiting for to complete so we can either sign the players we want to at the end of this window OR consider using the money to pay up the coaching staff.
We will find out over the next couple of days.
I'd love them to use it to find a role for Dobbo at the club. Do we have an analyst, he could certainly be employed as one.
The phrasing of the fee is interesting. Might have sold him for a fiver with a view that they get £10 million is he scores a goal ever. I wonder if this sell on clause will prove to be as memorable as the international appearance fee we didn't get for for Matt Phillips.
AAH being lined up for the Legends Lounge next home game?
Yes, letting him go while keeping D’Mani and Tjay doesn’t look great right now, but then certain Gasroom legends claimed that Anis was a dreadful signing, so swings and roundabouts as always.
I certainly would have kept him in place of Mellor or De Barr but as you say, these things happen and obviously GA saw something better in those two. I certainly didn’t.
He's the third player from the development team (Forino and Mehmeti the others) to establish themselves a player with EFL level career ahead of them. Pattenden and others may yet do so. That's good news if we want to continue recruiting talented players that fall through the net elsewhere, and suggests we are at least reasonably capable of identifying good prospects.
There's clearly a financial windfall for us. No doubt part of the business model is selling players ourselves for a fee but another will be resale clauses and loan fees.
It's possible for it to be a mistake in hindsight but a decision made for the right reason at the time. If he wasn't about to get games here, wanted to leave and we still got a decent % of his future value that's good business.
We also need to remember that most (all) of the value was created by Wimbledon, not us. If he'd stayed and had little game time he'd command a fee of precisely £0 - would people really have been happy with him starting when we were pushing for another run at the League 1 play offs?
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I watched AAH play for us a number of times and he ran about like a headless chicken barging over defenders without ever threatening the goal. I wondered who on earth had given him a professional contract in the first place. In contrast, TJ looked like a bright industrious prospect.
Obviously AAH has done incredibly well at Wimbledon whilst TJ has barely had a look in since. However, at the time it seemed a perfectly sensible decision to me
Taylor L was a goal machine at Wimbledon...looked like he'd never played as a forward before for us it seemed to me and I did not weep at his departure...and is now he is a 'goal machine' at Cambridge.
Yes agree with that. He hadn’t done anything particularly notable during his time on loan at Bromley. He’d looked useful but not exceptional in the couple of games he’d played for us. So not entirely surprising that club were ok for him to move on.
Part of it is a formation thing. At Wimbledon he’s thrived as part of a front two with Bugiel who does all the donkey work. At Wycombe under GA he’d have had to play as a lone no.9. He may or may not have the skills to do that as Ipswich might discover.
The irony is both AAH and TJay (and all of us) would probably have benefited if they’d been given the chance to play together as a front two. Shame it never happened.

Year supply of fireworks.
He becomes our second most successful development player investment.

Love them both for what they did but selling Al Hamadi was a massive cock up despite getting a sell on fee. There can be no doubting that.
AFC Wimbledon say the deal includes "future incentives which could see the transfer become a record amount at League Two level".
What is the League 2 transfer record?
Difficult to say for certain due to undisclosed rubbish but Ollie Watkins £1.8 million Exeter-Brentford is best guess.

That burning smell is both of Blueword's braincells spinning out of control.

Ollie Watkins to Brentford for £1.8m I think

we sold a promising young player for a sell on fee! Arguably tossed away a million quid! I know people like to take the positives but come on.
Perhaps this was the deal we've been waiting for to complete so we can either sign the players we want to at the end of this window OR consider using the money to pay up the coaching staff.

Blooms brought his own analyst with him
Again, hindsight. Find me a club who hasn't made a similar 'mistake' at some point. It's football.

Doesn't mean he can't have two!

I was fuming with the departure at the time as others can testify
Fair enough, not hindsight then, but it's still just one of those things.
I certainly would have kept him in place of Mellor or De Barr but as you say, these things happen and obviously GA saw something better in those two. I certainly didn’t.
Lots of positives in this.

Glad to get rid just for the constant social media spam that came with him 😂

It is a cliche...but these things happen.
I thought it was way above that figure, particularly with the subsequent sale to Villa.
I'd have kept him ahead of Vokes.

Not too late to edit your third paragraph!!
