I doubt very much that De Barr staying had anything to do with Freeman's departure. Sad to see TJ leaving. Always remember him and his mates behind me supporting the side against Man City. Was also disappointed to see Freeman turn down our contract offer.
I have no knowledge of how this works but I would have thought a Premier League club looking to loan out a 20year old prospect would be far more interested in hearing from potentially loaning clubs why they would best develop the young player rather than worrying too much about how much of the young lads in Premier League terms presumably insignificant salary the loaning clubs are prepared to pay.
Not sure whether a lg1 club paying 10% 50% or 100% of a 20 year old kids salary on a one year loan would have made a material difference to that however.
I think you’d be surprised how competitive the loan market is. Clubs not only have to pay a proportion or all of the players salary they also sometimes have to pay a loan fee to secure the player.
If there really were 15 clubs trying to sign Dale Taylor then I think we can assume it’s pretty unlikely we got him either cheaply or without promising he’d play ever week - which he’s what he’s pretty much done.
Byron was an exceptional barger, never bettered, a nightmare to play against. Perhaps best remembered for ending Alan Pardew's season with one of his speciality tackles.
It wasn't De Barr staying, it was him being given a run in the 10 when Nick saw it as his own natural role (and not De Barr's, to make matters worse).
We basically telegraphed to Freeman that we would never trust him to be the playmaker.
Oh well, thankfully we are doing so well unlocking defenses and seeing out games that we won't miss someone who can pick a pass and show composure on the ball.
Think you would be amazed at how much these Premier League youngsters are making and I have that information from within someone at the PL! BTW the wages a majority of L1 players are on is pretty eye watering. let's put it another way, I would be delighted to be on less than half of what they are on. 😮
It does take some believing doesn’t it. Dale Taylor more than 20 starts in the league this season already, TJay De Barr none.
Given what we’ve seemingly promised Wolves over Chem Campbell, you have to wonder what promise we’ve made to Forest about Taylor….and why we thought that was a good idea.
When the post mortems start on this dreadful season, our approach to recruiting loan players needs to sit pretty high up on the list.
Dale Taylor's played well recently. Starting him up front on his own clearly didn't work, but since Vokes has returned, I think we've seen a huge improvement in Taylor's performances.
TJ never really did enough in the opportunities he has given to justify a run of starts. That will apply however he does back in Gibraltar.
It does feel that in aggregate our loanees have not been amazingly successful. Honestly not sure what the ratio of successes is like at other clubs to see whether we have materially underperformed. I am slightly surprised that Kodua has not yet much featured - if he is ready he should play, if he is not ready why loan him. Maybe he will feature more in weeks to come.
The Post Mortems though can be held at the end of the season. For now need to focus on getting a win or two.
I don’t disagree with that, he has been much better.
Whether he’s been good enough to deserve a seemingly guaranteed place in the team, however, is more open to question.
It seems remarkable to me that Matt Bloomfield, with his job seemingly on the line and probably his whole chance to be an EFL manager going forward at stake, would put out a team on Saturday with Chem Campbell and Dale Taylor in it.

I bet those other 14 teams are delighted now

They just failed FFP…..

I have a new fondness for Byron Walton.

Agreed. Monthly wage of around £80k is the floor in the PL. Even for those established u21s who’ve not yet troubled the first team.
The figures are insane.

a manager who believed in him....I would have left if D.Taylor started ahead of him

His job isn't on the line, though. It should be, but it isn't.
