I know why we signed him, a mentor for Forino and Low and cover. But he didn't work out when on the pitch. I felt he had TOO much influence bizarrely. He seemed to demand the ball short from Max constantly (whether this was a tactic or him) during the dreadful 5 at the back era. We could be a goal down with a minute to play and the tempo would be killed as Max passed it 6 yards to Keogh.
Chatted to him in the car park a couple of time. Thoroughly decent chap, who I am sure wanted all the best things for the club. Certainly not the terrible signing that some make out and certainly not in the mercenary camp.
I take your 5-2 at Norwich and raise you the 6-0 at Huddersfield.
On the subject of Frank Sinclair, mentioned above, I remember him being very decent and disappointed we didn't get him permanently after his loan spell.
I seem to remember Westwood having some good games for us as well as one absolute shocker out of position at left back televised away to Huddersfield. Surprised that he and Duberry coincided.
Wycombe Wanderers boss Matt Bloomfield has hinted he doesn’t plan on signing any defensive players this transfer window, unless the ‘right opportunity comes’.
This follows the departures of left-wing back Harry Boyes and centre defender Richard Keogh this month, with the latter returning to his parent club Sheffield United, whilst the former has been released.
When asked if he plans on signing a defensive-minded player, he said: “I don’t think so.
“We’ve got plenty of bodies there at the moment, but if the right opportunity comes then we’ll look at it.
“At this moment in time, I’m pleased with the cover we’ve got at the back.
(From the BFP. I'd post a link but I don't want the blame for causing computers to crash)
We have Taf and Forino who are both injury prone. We have let Boyes go back to his club and now on loan at Fleetwood. Could be a dangerous decision not to recruit in those positions.
Maybe Matt has developed a lot more faith in a few of the development lads.
A first choice of Low and Tafazolli. Forino first reserve. Then Grimmer or Jacobson who can play there. And if push comes to shove, Leahy and McCarthy can also play there. Not to mention Clark and Skura who can be recalled from loans. I would say we are adequately covered.
Agree that Taf and Forino have had injuries in the past, but don’t forget that JJ, Grimmer and McCarthy have all played in central defence and there’s also Skura who looks an excellent prospect (I believe he has a recall clause in his loan to Ebbsfleet).
Seems to me, whatever your thoughts on how they actually performed, that having lost Keogh and Boyes we are less well covered in defense than before the transfer window. McCarthy back to fitness helps but still.
In midfield/attack we've replaced Breckin & Taylor (L) for Kodua and Kone which feels like a slight upgrade, but remains to be seen. Also we've lost Hanlan to a long term injury.
All in all, in feels to me like we are slightly weaker than prior to Hanlan's injury.
You are forgetting Campbell too. The players that have left don’t make us weaker. It remains to be seen whether unknown quantities Kodua and Kone are better than Hanlan.
Awful as it was, my abiding memory of the game (entirely possible that I’m wrong) is us not coming out second half until about 5 minutes after Norwich. They managed to get so wound up that they switched off from the start and we somehow scored pretty much straight from the kickoff.
I also think it was my fathers last ever game that he saw us play after 70 odd years as a supporter (he lived up that way) so bittersweet memories.

Wish him well
Or they just don't want anyone sat next to them

Yes, of course. Telling us the truth - that he actually has three FASTs - would have drawn attention to his inability to socialise.

Oh dear, that game away to Norwich. We travelled in numbers with such high excitement...
It was a defensive sh*t show, and that might be unkind to sh*t.
Good luck Keogh!
Now watch him rock up to Cambridge and help them keep five clean sheets in a row.

Not sure many would agree with that assessment.

Yes my reference to the development lads was really based on Skura’s recent showings. He does look a very good prospect.
Isn't it the case that loan signing can only be recalled during the transfer window?

I don't think that applies to non-League

SLIGHT?!
L Taylor scored and assisted on Saturday. He's a proven attacker
You've been watching too much Romesh Ranganathan!

Were we 4-0 at half time?
3-0 I think from (dodgy) memory
Please don’t tell me after your slew of furious posts about Lyle Taylor that you’re missing the old boy already?!?
Beyond parody
Yep at this stage only slight. Don't forget that if you replace Taylor in a formation you can't bring on both Kodua & Kone.
I had indeed forgotten about Campbell, 🤦♂️.
Aah, he of the weakest link. Yes, it took me a few minutes to fall in but I see what you mean. Perhaps an opening for me there.
PS I had to imagine a rather strange pronunciation of ‘nuance’ for the “joke” to work.
Of the new Gasroom signings we’ve welcomed in the January window, which one is @ReturnToS***a?
@LeedsBlue Hi
Stuff of nightmares, that.
