Seeing quite a bit of stick on here and on Twitter for the decision to move Keogh on - where were these Keogh truthers the last few weeks when he was widely held up as someone who shouldn’t start?!
I actually see this as a positive piece of management and shows Blooms isn’t afraid to have the difficult decisions when required, also hopefully frees up some of the wage budget and gives more playing time guarantees to Taf, Low and Forino.
We do now look a little lighter at CB depth wise of course, but maybe there’s a plan there.
You are entitled to be critical of his football ability but calling someone I presume you have never met ‘as thick as mince’ is uncalled for. Anyone who has met him will vouch for the fact that Keogh is a very likable person and in any case, footballers should be judged on their ability on the pitch, not their academic talents.
I'm not sure how it works in football, but in most businesses an announcement that someone is 'leaving by mutual consent to pursue other opportunities', generally is code for 'We no longer require your services, but to avoid embarrassment and negative publicity, if you agree to resign with immediate effect, we'll pay you £x and call it a day'.
He was probably on a one year contract, so we may have had to pay some proportion of the remainder.
I'm guessing that a fee has been agreed. It would be lower than terminating his contract out-right but a deal that works for both parties. It might have been for free if he's got a deal lined up with a club that can't pay a fee or that offers to pay him more or closer to home or at a "bigger" club, just like Arteta and Aubameyang at Arsenal (if you believe what you watch on the Amazon series).
Probably the right thing, it just seemed a season too far.
Sad it didn't work out for him though, I met him at the season ticket refund waiver day (rolls off the tongue that) over the summer and had a long chat with him. Seemed like a really nice bloke, intelligent too (that's for the idiot above who described him as "thick as mince"). Was really good with the kids who were there as well, as were all the players.
Before the Bristol Rovers match he was taking the defence through some drills and I thought aha! Useful to have someone not in the match side, but helping out the team, so I assumed he was looking at heading into coaching.
Really surprised to see that people see any of this in any way controversial or evidence of awful/brilliant management by MB.
There was clearly rationale behind the signing of Keogh in the first place. An experienced, once more-than-capable defender at our level, someone with the ability to pass it out of defence and someone MB clearly knew.
It probably didn't work out as hoped for by all parties, but I would think that is probably because his best playing days are clearly behind him and a lack of stability in what turned out to be an ever-rotating back 3/4/5/9.
I don't think he was as bad as some others are making out - more latter day Adam El-Abd, but I think a mutual agreement to part ways is the right thing for both parties at the moment.
That was a horrible summer. We had the Hayes scenario demanding the club or he was off, meaning we were in limbo and ended up in the bargain bin for signings. Relations, or well past their best vets.
Duberry's "we're not here to make up the numbers" battle cry before a woeful start to the season is the stuff of nightmares.
You obviously had something going on that other week where you seemed to be trying to rack up the highest amount of disapproval ever seen on the gasroom, but no you're generally in and around a reasoned take to how we're currently doing.
Best wishes to Richard on his next move, not really worked out here and I suspect he will either retire or get a player/coach role in Non League.
Quality player in his time but father time has caught up with him and at 37 the rigours of League One have not been possible for him this season.
Now we only need two CB's playing in a four. We have cover with Low, Taf and Forino with Grimmer very able to play CB as he has in the past. An experienced quick LB is what we need now.
Haydon Roberts at Bristol City might be worth a look.
Duberry, Oliver, Westwood were a really poor set of options that season.
I remember being at Norwich for the 5-2 defeat, and their 5th goal was literally wandering through out defence. That was probably the low point of their defending.
Seemed to be a very good pro but just a little slow for L1 nowadays. Sensible decision from all parties and may allow us to sign someone else.
Really enjoyed his first spell at Wycombe and every summer for a number of years was hoping he would return and always kept an eye out for his performances elsewhere.

I didn't think Keogh was as bad as others thought...but don't feel that bothered he has moved on. Not sure where that puts me.
I’m in the same boat. I’d have been happy to keep him but we can probably do better for the money.
I think it’s a good sign of Blooms development that he’s willing to make these sort of decisions.
