Following on from a comment below that they would not go to games following the appointment of Joey Barton as manager, whose arrival at Adams Park would lead to your own self-exile?
I guess the litmus test is who would you not want to cheer for. A drunk driver who was involved in a fatal crash? A player with a historical racist social media? A player PROSECUTED SUCCESSFULLY for domestic violence? A player PROSECUTED SUCCESSFULLY for sexual offences?
I think I would struggle with all the above. My favourite teams down the years has been the ones where they felt connected to the players. Pre-covid after game chats with players in the bar were great. Not sure I would want to spend time with Adam Johnson.
I think, realistically, only Joey Barton would make me really depressed to support the team. However, such as the way football is, I'd probably still drag myself down Hillbottom Road.
I did a self imposed exile when Steve Hayes owned the club. Well done me.
I've become dead inside since then and I can't think of any principled stand I'd take nowadays. I'll always boycott Northampton games but that's because the away fans once sang 'Fatty, give us a wave' at me.
Yep - him too I think although repentance does carry some weight with me. Someone who espoused racist views in their youth and now is an active and genuine voice in anti-racism work I could perhaps get behind. Has Hylton done the work?
Barton, Ched Evans, Adam Johnson for me. I don't like Evans but he usually has successful periods. Hylton is too.old to be a danger to just now isn't he?
To be fair if they start messing about with game times/days in the new era, I might have to rip.up.my subscriptions till I retire.
Would have had no problem us signing Luke McCormick.
We'd be a pretty awful society if we condemned criminals to not just a period of prison, but then a life sentence of professional exile with no chance of rehabilitation or redemption.
It doesn't really matter what the legal system says when it comes to fan feeling - I don't think most would accept a child killer in their club's ranks.

A management team of Alan Smith and Steve Evans.
James Corden
Boris Johnson
Fascinating thread.
A James Corden investment and heavy involvement would be very hard to take!

Richard Hill
If he bundled in with mega wad and promised not to do that horrific version of American boy from his sitcom, surely we could deal with it?

Terribly dreadful work here.
Shame really, but times move on and some people get old

Oh, he's retired. Good.

(And/or Joey Barton)
In some cases, I'd agree, but what he did was pure scumbag behaviour and I could never accept someone of his ilk at my club.
The legal system thankfully doesn't agree with you.
And yet we still keep the number 14 shirt retired.
Yeah, not great is it
