Sorry, I am still resisting the Kool Aid...we had bad runs under Gareth pre-Bayo when we did not seem to be able to buy a goal and played some dire stuff.
This is a bad run but it's nothing we haven't seen before. Obviously I have the rose coloured glasses on that I had when people were saying Gareth was out of his depth.
That did happen in living memory.
There's no doubt if a billionaire steps up we'll get a 'proven' manager a Tisdale, a Warne, a Hughes, Jones or Barton...but until then the MB wheels are not yet off for me.
Well it's just over a year to the day since we had one of THE most boring games I've ever witnessed. Lincoln away 0-0.
We had 22 points after 17 games last season, we have 22 after 19 this season.
The 5 game run from Cambridge at home to Cheltenham away in late October / early November was horrendous. We were pitiful.
Ainsworth then turned it around over Xmas and heading into that 5 match winning run.
MB may not turn it around like Ainsworth did last season but I'm hoping he does. He's only had one season of management, Ainsworth had 10+ years behind him.
I'm certainly not in the Bloomfield out camp. But I am concerned. I see an element of his personality that is not going to help our cause, and that stubbornness. I'm hoping it's not arrogance. Dobbo was a trusted friend of the club and Ainsworth and I always felt that he would be the kind of guy that put a hand on Gareth's shoulder and say 'nope'. I sincerely hope that Matt has that support in his team, as that hand should be there.
I’ve never left a game early. In that FA cup horror Her Indoors and I agreed we’d be off if Morecambe scored a third. I’d have left last Saturday had a second gone in.
Whilst Ainsworth got a lot of stick for tactics, subs, long ball, dark arts there was always the possibility of something from nothing. A Beeny game if you like.
Somehow that has been lost and it is very sad. I very much hope it can be found again.
I also wonder about how much pressure Blooms is under as Mr Wycombe, how much carrying that label adds to his stress in the role and affects his ability to step away, get head space for fresh ideas? I really want him to do well, I fear if this all goes wrong that his opportunities for league level management may be few.
For me the key will be whether we can get back to the style of football we were playing before Potts got injured if/when he returns to match fitness. If we can, hopefully the results will improve and some of the (legitimate) negativity will dissipate.
It does feel however that we are moving backwards/treading water at the moment and the key learning for MB has to be how to adapt when one of his chief cogs needs replacing.
But I do think (based primarily on the few games up to half-time at Bradford) that he should be given more time on the assumption that Potts will return.
On the subject of our inability to comeback and as an alternative to @Shev's (perfectly reasonable) Bayo theory I wonder whether it also it coincides with our transformation from perpetual underdogs (due to limited budget) where in practically every game we had to give everything to try and get any result to one where we have a reasonably well-funded (possibly) League One team and are therefore much more geared up to getting results (or not as the current case appears to be) through our footballing skills and tactical nous rather than just everyone giving everything for the greater good just for the right to compete as equals.
Your argument is a made up interpretation of what @Commoner said. Maybe read the rest of the post. Lemme know if you need help once you've read all of it.
I’m staying out of the should / shouldn’t Blooms stay / go. One question I do have though is IF we go looking for a replacement who within the club structure has the experience / knowledge / vision / contacts to seek out a suitable candidate? Post Phil Alexander’s short tenure it feels to me like we are woefully short of that sort of senior management these days.
OK. The point of the post was that Gareth Ainsworth, a manager with 10 years experience and a squad built on Championship parachute money also had bad runs, and indeed at this point in the season last year had almost exactly the same record as Matt Bloomfield in the first year of his career.
So, with the full context, your reply should have been "So your argument is that a manager with ten years experience, one year ago, was doing almost exactly as well as a manager with barely any experience." - obviously this isn't quite the takedown you were going for, but then of course, neither was your actual post.

And not just boring, incredibly ineffective

If we get Barton then I’m out until he goes again.
Sounds so familiar.
I think there would be a full scale revolt if the unthinkable were to happen

Some Twitter chat saying our assistant Richard Thomas may be off to manage Woking.
And in approximately 30 seconds the inevitable “get Dobbo back” will begin
Get dobbo back
Get Danny Senda in.
So your argument is that one of Gaz's crappest starts was actually better for points than Matty's best run for us.
Gulp.
Now that could unlock an interesting Dobbo back in scenario.
Obviously he might not want to work under someone he was basically above before.
And he's Gaz's boy.
But maybe he might entertain a period here while Gaz is finding himself touring?
Return for Senda?
Return for Senda
Bugger
🤣 great minds and all that jazz

I thought we'd managed to go a week without you doing this to someone

Kevin Couhig, The Drummer and LX1 at 2am.
I’m fine with that as long as @trevor has power of veto over the selection!

Right now I will take the positives where I can find them. Roll on the second half of the season surge to the playoffs!
Sorry @Malone. Who is calling who(m) negative?
I still love you.
