If I was the new Georgian owner I might be happy to buy us as a League 2 club. I could probably negotiate the sale price down and would have more chance of early success once in the hot seat.
I know one poster wanted Max dropping for a keeper who 'had not put a foot wrong' but though his kicking was slightly better he didn't look a cut above Max to me.
He was tested twice, he conceded twice. The first goal was obvious as he had already been unconvincing on a cross therefore any team with any sense knew what to do with their first set piece and it paid off. The second goal he was totally exposed by a full back and it was an easy goal.
Regardless the decision to drop Max was correct. He needed to come out of the limelight, he needed to know he was not irreplaceable. I am not sure that Matt won't look for a replacement in January. He clearly wants a ball playing 'keeper and we don't have one. Personally I would give up on a ball playing 'keeper but what do I know.
I had a rare foray into the terrace on Saturday to stand at the front behind the goal as I used to do many moons ago.
Jasper was surprisingly forthright in his interactions with Ravizzoli, at one point telling him in no uncertain terms to start pushing defenders away during corners to make room for himself. Ravizzoli did look quite nervous imho.
it's a good question, @Wendoverman . I thought it was a bit poor that he didn't do better on the corner for the first goal (and Taf and Forino didn't covert themselves in glory either. But then the same corner-taker, Adam Mayor, scored direct from a corner vs Max last season.
I'd give Max another go, personally, and see if he can recover his form. What do you reckon?
It’s a long time since Max was buffeted in a crowded 6 yard box for Portsmouth’s ill-deserved late winner at Fratton Park but maybe that has undermined his confidence in tight situations in the meantime. Doesn’t excuse that inch- perfect pass to a Reading player for their first (?) goal, though or the Pantomime fall at Oakwell.
Apart from the superb penalty save against Wimbledon in the tinpot, I’ve not seen anything from Franco (sorry, can’t spell his surname) to suggest that he deserves to supplant Max in League games.
@our_frank it was right to give Max a couple of games rest, but I still rate him. Then again, I thought Rocky was a good keeper. It was such a shambles on Saturday across the team, I'm not sure the keeper was entirely to blame.
What strange times we live in when our set-pieces are now uniformly appalling and we are worried every time someone else gets one!
I always feel that a keeper has license to do what he likes in a crowded box. Take the ball, take out the defender, take out the attacker, take out the official for all I care. If your default is to rely on getting a decision from an official you are risking it. The Portsmouth goal was a foul but he could have been stronger or more aggressive. Max has to be stronger v Barnsley etc. I correct that. Max has to be stronger AGAIN. He had the aura of a mad keeper when he arrived and now he’s fragile. Whether that’s a mental thing or a change in instruction I dunno. I know what I prefer.

Not sure there’ll ever be a lower water mark than losing at home to the Metropolitan Police.
It was, however, the catalyst for the next 30 years.
£11 for adults, £6 for kids for the tinpot trophy game - is it normally that much?
This might be one of most insightful comments I’ve ever read on the Gasroom.
I need to remember this next time I switch the oven on.
Does anyone know why we didn't take the knee before the game on Saturday by the way?
As far as I'm aware that was the first time since we started doing it that we haven't done it
Is that the entry fee or the compensation figure Bobby C is offering as an apology for those who attended on Saturday ?
Nothing was normal about Saturday was it?
We lost
Lyle Taylor threatened to tut loudly.

Wouldn't suggest huge funding or ambition. Imagine doing that then losing the playoffs 3 years running.
But we might get better quality fireworks!!
Won six drawn 4 lost 8 (albeit the last three of those in a very poor manner) ...couple of games in hand...we're not dead and buried just yet.
We didn’t take the knee v Wimbledon or Barnsley either.
I stand corrected. We definitely did at the previous home league game vs Reading
Or kneel corrected… ;)
Just checking - was Franco Ravizzoli the answer?

I was thinking exactly the same thing, @micra , about that Pompey assault. He's made some gaffs, but he's not had the best luck this season, has he?
