It's not the cleverest way to describe someone whilst asking for understanding of someone else. People do drape theirselves in the flag and take faux outrage to anything perceived to be anti-UK whatever that means but this isn't the mail online.
Perhaps not, but asking for someone to be dropped until after Remembrance Day because they didn't observe the minute's silence in the 'right' way is emblematic of the kind of hysteria that now surrounds this whole time of year.
Also, I saw the fan in question abusing Bayo from the terrace on more than one occasion and vociferously wanting him out of the club, so I'm not particularly inclined to hold their opinion in very high regard.
The demand to take a side on every issue makes a lot of people seem foolish. It’s ok to be ambivalent, it’s ok to say ‘sorry I don’t know enough to give you my opinion’. Losing grey in the spectrum of opinion is the cause of much anger on the world today.
Anyway, back to the football. I missed the game yesterday but caught up via highlights. Does anyone else think we were incredibly fortunate to not have to retake our second penalty for encroachment? We had two players inside the box as the ball was struck by Leahy. A competent VAR use would have made us retake.
Think that you will find encroachment occurred in all 3 penalties. It's my view that officials have chosen to ignore encroachment at penalties, much like shirt pulling at corners. Misdemeanours very rarely punished. Regarding VAR, surely that's not necessary for a penalty take. There are 4 officials who have nothing else to do other than monitor the penalty kick.
Looks like Luke Leahy has been quite scathing about the ref on the socials (as they say nowadays) are players allowed to do that without getting a rebuke?
I'm making an observation. It's as relevant as the comment by @LordMandeville that attacking players were encroaching. At the time the referee didn't see the offence and enforce a retake, which was fortunate for us. If their keeper had made a save and the referee hadn't seen the offence and enforced a retake, that would have been fortunate for Oxford.
If Killian starts tomorrow (and I hope he does as he's been superb) I certainly hope some of these idiots on the Facebook group / twitter keep their mouths shut. I have a bad feeling there could be some boos...
James McClean got booed when he was at AP recently (with Wigan, I think), so I think that gives us our answer. Some people are in dire need of a history lesson.
If one’s Wycombe supporting revolves around the Gasroom, Ringing the Blues and the ten or so folk you are on nodding terms with near your seat then it’s is easy to believe we are a pretty balanced reasonable bunch.
Its only when one is in close proximity to others, such as in a sold out away ‘end’ at Oxford, that it becomes evident that a number of the fan base might have somewhat different social values!
I didn’t have a team sheet on Saturday but was surprised that the Oxford team had several players named C*#t, Pr:ck and W@nk€r, which completely by chance was also the refs name.
I don’t know if I can ever do Oxford away again. It’s just full of unbearable kids you only see five times a season at most. And the stewards are nobheads.
Once again its an example of a complex issue trying to be pigeon holed into a simple black v white result. Asking anyone why they are booing Killian would result in a 'cos if it wasn't for my grandad he would be speaking German' response. And that is it, the understanding of one point of history from a purely British perspective makes people say ill-informed things.

Don't worry, it doesn't mean it literally

Indeed.

I'm tapping out of this debate now - this hit the nail on the head imo.
In some cases it probably does
Interesting that Bristol Rovers is in that list, a case could be made for that ground being opened on the Sunday itself.
For the record, the British have never treated their own people that well either.
Memorial Ground?
@LordMandeville indeed, not that they have always acted as good custodians in my opinion

I agree with that. We're seeing it a lot at the moment with the situation in the Middle East - everyone seems to feel they must have an opinion on it.
The proposed "Memorial Sainsbury's" might have been a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives serving their country.

**** VAR. Is that the same VAR that held up a match yesterday for over 5 minutes? Thanks but no thanks.
I must have missed the bit where I suggested I liked VAR.

The Oxford keeper was also well off his line when both our penalties were taken.
I’m still smarting about Peterloo.
That's irrelevant since we scored both of them

Or people just do it for attention.
I doubt any of those booing will even have a poppy or have ever bought one.
