Top 14 Wycombe seasons by finishing position
I thought I would post this here for reference, as Blooms will land on this list somewhere in his first full season if he avoids relegation (as this is the complete list of all league seasons out of L2 that did not end in L1 relegation), so it can be brought back up later to see where. Points gained are the first tiebreaker, and overall finishing position of the 92 is indicated in parentheses too, as it could be a second tiebreaker if we ever happen to come 6th with 78 points again (as that was before realignment).

I do find it interesting to see who did what. And at a time where Ainsworth is embattled in his current role, it's nice to see statistics around his legendary run here.
I personally loved the 18/19 season, where we stayed up as a fan owned club with no money (a very underrated achievement owing to the more glamourous things we have done), and this was actually the 11th best ever finish too, which really could have been solidly higher without that terrible run late in the season.
Here's to Blooms hopefully writing his name in our lore over the next several seasons!

Always thought the one good thing about Ainsworth leaving when he did did last season was it guaranteed he’d never end up leaving in similar circumstances to Sanchez.

2001/2002 had such great promise until a disastrous drop-off from mid-February onwards that seemed to trigger the slow and painful decline under Sanchez. The first-half of that season was one of the most exciting I've witnessed in 23 years+ of visiting AP, especially as we were near impossible to beat at home.
Blackpool at home, right. Turned up thinking we might have a chance of a play-off place and got a justified thrashing from the Seasiders, whose fans were as good as they were, on a windy, rainy, altogether dreadful night.
For some reason you've triggered a totally separate memory of us going well early one season, Cornforth slotting the set pieces in, looking for the playoffs. Then Carlisle showed up with a young Matt Jansen and battered us 4-1
The very game that arguably triggered the beginning of the end of our initial ‘halcyon days’ in the Football League. It could be said that it wasn’t until we’d reached rock bottom and risen again under Ainsworth that the good vibes truly came back.
i would argue that there were good vibes in abundance during the glorious Gormania era until it all unravelled after that tragic night following the Notts County game.
It did take a long, long time for the clouds to lift after that though.
