Will add it to the list... I need to stop fueling my addiction for a bit. I discovered an *amazing* record shop in Bushey, of all places, recently - well worth checking out if you're local to this sort of area. It's called Second Scene.
Oh, ok, only heard about them a couple of weeks ago, will go and check it out at some point. I thought the pub across from there would be promising but seems to be mostly cover bands and looked a bit dingy when nothing was on.
Did anyone here ever see the Ramones? I got hold of the 'It's Alive' album of their NYE 1977 London Rainbow show today and that performance just blows my mind every time I see/hear it.
I used to work at the CBS pressing plant and distribution Centre at Rabans Lane, Aylesbury in the 1980s. Huge quantities of vinyl albums and singles being pressed and a very, very strong acrid smell across the pressing room floor…I loved it! Anyone else remember the factory there?
I saw them at Reading festival, it was amazing. Everything was played at 4x speed so songs lasted about 40 seconds, the dry ice machine got stuck on and completely shrouded the band, and their entire set was over in about 30 minutes.
I saw them at Cambridge Corn Exchange just over a week before the Its Alive album was recorded. I hadn't realised until i just checked the actual date but it was two days before Christmas. Christmas Eve i travelled up to Cromer to see (as it turned out) the last public performance of the Sex Pistols in this country. Hitch-hiked to and from both.
The Ramones were great, but, and I think I've mentioned this before, they were supported by the Rezillos who were just fantastic.
I saw the Ramones at the Roundhouse in Chalk Farm in 1976 I think. It was a July 4th celebration with the Flamin’ Groovies headlining with the Stranglers as the opening act. One of my few ‘I was there’ moments despite over 50+ years of gigs.
I saw Ramones (it's not actually The Ramones) at the Roundhouse during the Jubilee weekend in 1977. It's all a bit of a blur now. The Saints were first on and I can remember their wall of sound and buzzsaw guitar, and their great single "(I'm) Stranded". Next up were Talking Heads, not well received, a few boos. They weren't really in the vibe of the occasion, but I was much smitten with Tina Weymouth on bass, still am. Then the headliners and it was just one manic, breathless, emotional adrenaline rush. Joey had such presence, and such a great singing voice. It was a life changing experience for me, Ramones remain the ultimate live band.
Yet to see them, and you and @bookertease have made up my mind that I should see them before it's too late. They are still touring. Fay Fife has the most gorgeous singing voice and accent.
It's not 'The Ramones' in the same way it's 'The Rolling Stones', but that's still how they're referred to (and how they introduced themselves on stage) - the Sex Pistols being another good example.
Yes, I was being too picky, it sounds better and more natural with 'the' when talking about them collectively. In a discography it would just be 'Ramones', and 'Buzzcocks' for that matter.

Yes.

Bushey is where George Michael was from
Apparently there's a new vinyl LP cafe in Watford now too near the underpass at the end of the high road.
I've been in there once, quite good. I think they've been there the best part of 10 years now.

You’ll say well you would wouldn’t you but I struggled briefly to think why anyone would open a cafe too near an underpass.
Fair point, that would probably explain why I didn't know it was there despite walking fairly close to it numerous times.
Stumbled across this. Great guitar solo by Nuna Bettencourt. About 2.22.

I saw them supporting U2 at Milton Keynes Bowl.
Best band of the day, although all their songs were called " One, Two, Three, Four" (if I remember correctly)

I was reading about this earlier as well! I think I've got a few things that were pressed there.
I saw them at Reading festival, it was amazing. Everything was played at 4x speed so songs lasted about 40 seconds, the dry ice machine got stuck on and completely shrouded the band, and their entire set was over in about 30 minutes.

Never saw them but 'It's Alive' was a great album...and even being a double it was shorter than Dark Side of the Moon (probably).
I was too young to see The Pistols live in their short career...but I do often see Paul Cook ambling about that London...so I almost have.
Would love to have seen the Rezillos, everyone who did raves about them.

Yeah, it's an interesting one (I think so, anyway!) - and don't get me started on organising solo artists by their first name, as some platforms do...
The Smiths appeared to change their name to Smiths to the complete indifference of everybody.
What about The The? Are they really just The?
Good question, seems to be two "The". In the middle of a sentence, is it "the The" or "The The"? Would you refer to them collectively as "Them"?
In a discography they would The The but when talking about them they would be The The The.
(It's 'the The' and not 'The The' by the way)
When talking about them, would it not be "the The The"?
The ‘the the The’ naming approach seems worse than the ‘the The’ one.
