The previous ground record was 556, set by the West Indies against Minor Counties in 1984. Three centurions, Desmond Haynes, Viv Richards and Thelston Payne.
I remember playing against Cameron Parsons in adult cricket, he was only about 12 or 13, we thought we'd take it easy on him as he was so small, about an hour later when he was on 30 odd not out a couple of our lads even resorted to some shorter stuff ! He top scored for Widmer End that day !
Hopefully the squad can get a lap of honour during an upcoming home game.
High Wycombe CC were offered the chance a year or two ago for winning the home counties PL, but Bucks CCC winning the National Counites Div 1 is a big step above that achievement.
Congrats to Worboys and Peart for following the team home and away. Hopefully there will be a home 50 over showcase game against a first class county next year, ideally at HWCC.
And hopefully Bucks can perform better in the T20 comp next year! They were thoroughly outclassed against Berkshire in the two T20s at Wycombe in the early part of the season.
I cannot see anything yet on the Bucks Free Press site. Given that there were four High Wycombe players in the team, including the captain, they should give it some coverage.
As I know all too well from other sport you need to send the report to the BFP and that is probably being done. They can hardly ignore this event. The only sport they actually make an effort to report on themselves is WWFC.
Devon’s director of cricket, Dave Tall, commented on the first innings rule.
“The one opportunity we had to get our noses in front, we didn't take. It is a ridiculous rule and it came back to bite us badly as it enabled Bucks to bat and bat which killed the game. Personally, I think it ruined what could have been a cracking game of cricket. I have no issue with Bucks’ tactics, had we been in the same position we would have done exactly the same.”
Even without that rule, I think Bucks would have batted on and on, because it was a four day game, but the match has to end in a win for one side, so something artificial has to be applied to ensure a result.
Had it been a normal three day game, Bucks would have scored faster, but the rate dropped below two an over for periods, because they had so much time in hand. A three day match, with a fourth day in reserve for bad weather, would probably have made it more entertaining for the spectators, not that many were there.
Bucks won the toss and decided to bat, knowing Devon would bat last on a turning pitch. The groundsman said that was the right decision. In the event the wicket on the first day was lively and 17 wickets fell, aided by good bowling by both teams. The wicket flattened out on days two and three and Bucks took full advantage, grinding Devon down and leaving them in no good a mental state when they came to bat again. Conner Haddow took full advantage, taking five wickets for six runs in 10.1 overs, to add to his 3-31 off 15 overs in the first innings.

Devon 39-2 off 9 overs. Could be over a day and innings early.

Devon 58-5.
One more wicket for Cameron Parsons and he has a 5wkt haul in the match. Bragg on four too.
In reply, Devon have struggled to 59-5.
Make that 59-6.
Devon edging nearer defeat on 60-7.
They might not make Bucks first innings total of 185 over their two innings.
Tea: Chasing 635 to win, Devon have struggled to 61-7.
Currently the seventh batsman Huggett has faced more balls than any of his team mates at 29 but only scored 1 run.
These Bucks men have really done a number on DevC’s boys.
Devon 74-8.
Devon 76-9
On the pitch when we win guys!
That’s it! Devon all out for 84. BUCKS ARE CHAMPIONS!!!!!
I suspected the team in white would win.
With some illustrious names already on the board.
Bravo to our Bucks boys and rather apt they beat Devon at a ground with Dartmouth in it.
Bloody hell that is an absolute smashing !

Salute the NCCA champions!!!

Would be great for WWFC to do something for the Bucks CCC team. Half time parading the Cup seems a winner.
It would be nice to do it at half-time at the Family Day v Carlisle United on September 30th.
Bucks CCC have just added their report.

I know Cameron from when he was a lad, he went to school with my son. Very talented. Glad to see he is fulfilling his potential! 🤙
The Devon CCC report.

Sounds a bit like "I wouldn't want to watch that every week"!
