Had no pre-season though, probably a few weeks behind peak. The thing is I think most people were happy to see him extend so a dip in form can't really necessitate a wrong decision or a replacement.
Vokes Taylor
TJay Brandon
If that has to do, with potential to only play one and fill the midfield up a bit, it's not awful.
So perhaps as we couldn’t get Uche in easily or cheaply and we couldn’t find a replacement, we didn’t sanction the Hanlan transfer. One pissed off player as it appears ( rumours) Hanlan was up for the move.
Maybe but you'd like to think sometimes there's a realisation the club you're talking to isn't exactly pulling out all the stops. He's got interest though and putting in good performances and scoring goals over the next few months won't do him any harm in January or beyond.
You can't sign teams but you can have a vision of thinking 'we have a centre forward who can hold up the ball and win flicks, who would work well with that?' etc etc. In Potts, Phillips and Breckin for example we have three very capable players but I’m not sure we know how they work in the team.
One things for sure absolutely none of us really know anything about any of this other than what we’ve read on ‘in the know’ Twitter accounts that work on the ‘even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day’ principle.
Taylor when fit does look like a decent match alongside Vokes, and I think Blooms recognised Breckin might not be ready yet when he also signed Phillips who looks like he can get forward. Looks like he wants us to be a bit more solid and less gung ho.
I'm not sure it's as random as you seem to be suggesting but the young guys will take time to get there and we have to acknowledge some of them might not make it. I think he's done alright with limited funds, some of the loans are really good gets, but it's ultimately down to him and the players to make it work.
The only thing that it would be good to know is why Hanlan was left out on Tuesday and why Bloomfield refused to comment. He will be a good asset until the next window though- it would be great if he can improve his finishing over that time too.
Hanlan and Al-hamadi to improving their finishing so those that were interested in them may come back in for them in the next window. Although it looks like Barnsley went for Sam Cosgrove once the deal for Al-Hamadi fell through. Would have been a couple of nice filips to the balance sheet have those happen.
Or maybe he simply meant that he was left out as there was very obviously a potential move going ahead and it'd be foolarse to risk that with an injury?
I’d have thought the least likely scenario is that we wanted more than whatever six figure fee Wrexham were offering.
I’m a bit worried that we only discovered Uche’s registration status at the last minute. Clearly Hanlan’s move was called off late in the day, or there wouldn’t have been the last minute rush to sign Armstrong.
The point is thought that we jeopardised our chances in the league cup for a transfer that didn’t happen. I suppose it may have a been a calculated risk that didn’t pay off.
He was clearly left out because there was a move in the works. Whether that was to avoid injury, his head wasn't in the right place or he actually asked to be left out, who knows.

Vokes was pretty barren for most of last season too, 6 goals all year.
Would we? It's been pretty bleak overall.
If Konyaspor are holding on to his registration then it would clearly be a more complicated signing.
Confirmed that Armstrong wasn’t registered in time and therefore remains a Harrogate player.
What would the odds have been yesterday on Hanlan, Armstrong and Ikpeazu all staying in their current situation after the deadline?!
Fuck, all this time I thought he was a free agent
Probably. Football fans are a fickle bunch
Doesn't look like he's ever going to play for Konyaspor again, but he seems to technically still be their player (Transfermarkt).

If they don't want a transfer fee then it's a simple step to terminate his contract such that he becomes a free agent.
Surely he can only still be their player if they are paying his wages.
Doesn't quite work like that, they hold his registration until something is agreed

One thing that all this endless speculation & navel gazing reminds me of is that:
"It is really easy to spend other people's money"
I presume this is still peddling the same malicious unsubstantiated rumour Tom. Not good.

It’s a possibility @Malone but as he has peddled the same malicious unsubstantiated rumour before……
perhaps he could clarify.

Piss off

Why do you respond like that when someone makes a perfectly reasonable point?
It wasn't a reasonable point.
You still haven't clocked Dev's MO even after this many years have you 😄
