Drum is back!

  • Many thanks!

  • @aloysius would never compare himself to David Carroll. But if he is to be the one defending the vulnerable against the all-powerful, while the crowds mock and jeer him, only to be proven right time and again (and worshipped for millennia to come) than so be it.

  • Have I missed something? Agree with most posters that this is a sensible approach by the club to a contentious issue. What I haven't seen is any discussion regarding how the club may select a matchday drummer. Is there a list of potential drummers and how would any supporter go about adding his/her name to that list? Will each would-be drummer be auditioned in order to establish competence?

Ideally the club should (eventually) have a list of competent drummers and introduce a rota system. End of season award for the most popular drummer? Sponsorship? Lots to consider methinks.

  • When do you believe you've been proven right out of interest?

  • Mass drum-off at half-time tomorrow

  • Give everyone on the terrace two wooden sticks and see what happens, shouldn't take long to play out.

  • Hasn't happened yet.

Sometimes the gasroom isn't the place to go for the ITK knowledge.

If I get to AP in the spring I am going to bring my acoustic guitar just to see if I get kicked out for violating the non-drum instrument clause. If they let me stay I will play a ballad of Ye Olde Buckes Boyes.

    (disclaimer: not really)

  • I demand this happens

  • I can see the scenes now.

@Jonny_King and @Shev making metaphorical sweet love in the rain to fireworks as our promotion to the championship is sealed with a display so magnificent it makes Brazil 1970 look like Westley Stevenage.

  • Trumpet. Of course. Sorry about that.

Sadly, health issues have prevented me from attending matches for the last two seasons and I’m afraid I won’t be returning.

Hope you’re keeping well yourself, Jonny. I tried to get a copy of the last issue of The Wanderer but missed out in the end. I still drive locally so the next time it’s on sale in Hillbottom Road I’ll drive there - it’s only about five miles - at about 2pm or earlier if it’s being sold earlier.

Enjoy the Exeter match and any others that you are able to get to.

  • Good lord! To be honest, I think Shev could metaphorically do better…

  • I wouldn't worry. The reality is a broken guitar string and abuse from the terrace as Charlton stuff us 5-0 to send us to a boring midtable finish. @Malone is just an optimist!

  • I’m so sorry to hear that, but of course health comes first. I hope you’re still able to follow games via the majesty of Phil Catchpole’s dulcet tones. (Have you recently purchased a holiday home in the charming surrounds of Vipienne?)

There’ll be a new edition of The Wanderer out for the Exeter game. I will hopefully be there selling so will keep an eye out for you. Please do let me know if you ever miss out on an issue and I will see if there is a copy that can be put aside for you.

I can try and find out about the previous issue if you’re still after a copy?

Shev on ukulele doing a cover of this.

  • There's a fire in the terrace the game must be stopped, oh, no, you're alright, it's just @Shev and,@Jonny_King leading the new fan anthem kum-bay-yah and reciting poetry round the camp fire. Toasted marshmallows said to be a great addition to the new catering range.

  • Absolute carnage as the season fizzles out in a miserable freezing cold rain, whilst fireworks in the daylight go off.

While the designated drummer for the game leads the drone army to a rhythmical rendition of "sack the board".

  • Thanks for that, @Jonny_King. I’ll try to be there and will put the hazard lights on for a quick chat ! Slightly battered silver Hyundai i10. No chips. Screen safer from mrs micra than windscreen.

  • No chips! When did you get a job in the kiosk at Adams Park?

  • I’d better come clean. She has collected a couple - probably driving in someone’s slipstream.

  • Too late to edit. I must have meant ‘bodywork’, not windscreen.

  • Give every one on the terrace the inflatable “boom” sticks or whatever they were called.

anyone out of time has theirs punctured until just a handful left. Drummer selection sorted.

(and this is not a genuine proposal for those with lack of irony)

  • Saw someone asking about whether the club will be "tuning" the drum and maintaining it in between games.

I think anyone asking such questions is nailed on for the role!

  • That was the drummer..... the good one ! So let's hope he is nailed on for it !

  • Paul’s a good drummer, but there is absolutely no need for the drum to be tuned.

  • It certainly sounds like timing was a lot more of the issue than tuning was!

  • I respect Paul a lot for staying professional throughout the last few years of the dramatic drum nonsense online and in the terrace

  • I'm surprised this is still going on tbh. Just don't allow the lad who everyone seems to be criticising on the drum ever. Nobody has a birth right to frustrate others around them.
