  • Was actually surprised at how good Guns n Roses were on the Saturday. I mean some of their stuff does seem horribly dated to modern tastes, but there were some definite high points. Civil War sounded tremendous and really seemed to spark the set and crowd into life. I really didn't expect them to suit Glastonbury, but no doubting that they pulled it off.

Arctic Monkeys however were a huge disappointment. I'm not that familiar with much of their back catalogue, but am aware they have some great songs. Was a very weak and slow set though, don't think I've ever heard a Glasto crowd seem so bored.

Saw bits an pieces of Elton John whilst channel hopping between War on Drugs and Queens of the Stone Age. Looked like he put on a good show. Seemed to dig deep into his 70's collection, which would be a wise move, as that's when he was at his musical peak.

  • Arctic Monkeys were shite weren't they, the singer seems to now be a wannabe Nick Cave but without the talent. Out of all the Old White Men™ bands, I thought the Manics were the best, James Dean Bradfield still able to hit all the notes. Billy Idol looks like someone drew Freddy Starr on a potato.

  • Turner was shaking off laryngitis, but their last two albums have been thoroughly meh imo. Mind you, I think they're quite overrated in general.

I was underwhelmed by the Arctic Monkeys as I lost track of them after the first two albums...I thought a lot of their turn was quite dull. I did however love the fact that when they dug into their past they had to suddenly shake off the US and sing in a Yorkshire accent again.

Elton is the best pub singer we have despite obvious health problems. Kiki Dee has had some work done though .

  • The Viagra Boys played a blinder.

Thought Arctic Monkeys were great actually, they've changed their style but surely that's the mark of a good band. Didn't see all the acts by any means, wasn't going to waste two or three hours on Guns N' Roses, never liked them and never will. Apart from the Arctics, my highlights were the Manics, Weyes Blood and Ezra Collective.

I saw them open for Sleaford Mods, not having heard them before. Suffice to say I was instantly hooked.

I caught them again a few weeks back at Bearded Theory.

I do like a frontman who cares not for his looks. He’s kind of a Scandinavian Shane McGowan with more teeth.

  • Didn't Shane MacGowan get a fresh set of gnashers a few years back?

  • Might not be your cup of tea but I thought The Lightning Seeds were terrific

  • Haven't watched them yet but planning to. Of the acts that were entirely new to me that I enjoyed, so far it's probably just Royal Blood Maneskin, and Los Bitchos. Quite liked Big Moon too. And I sort of enjoyed Nova Twins, but I don't think I'd ever choose to put them on.

I watched about 5 Royal Blood songs before I realised there were just the two of them on stage, very impressed with what he achieves on the bass.

  • Didn't the bloke from Royal Blood go off one at fans the other week for not rocking hard enough or some nonsense? Have seen them a couple of times - doesn't do anything for me, just noise.

  • I liked a lot of the Big Moon's early stuff then kind of lost track

  • Editors were excellent on the woodsies stage yesterday

Not sure it excuses them but to be fair they did play in Plymouth on Saturday night before travelling to Dundee for an early evening Sunday slot only to be treated with indifference. They must have been pretty knackered.

  • Agree about the Manics. Their guest vocalist was The Anchoress who grew up in Aylesbury.

  • Didn't watch very much of Glasto on the telly as unfortunately they spent far too much time on the addled & raddled old men of rock & pop and too little time/exposure to the lesser known & up & coming bands/performers.

  • Use the red button option, there was loads of choice

  • iPlayer was showing everything on every stage all weekend. I watched a bunch of complete unknowns (to me). Not all of them are available as catch-up though sadly.

  • The acoustic stage and the one with the massive spider weren’t shown which was a shame as there were some decent bands on.

They did have everything from the three main stages though.

  • I counted six stages at one point - Pyramid, other, woodsies and now I can't remember the others. What a pointless post. I'll take myself off.

  • The problem for me, as one who has pretty full days every day, if it aint on catch up on i-player etc then I miss it...plus there are only 24 hours in a day.

  • Can you remember when Glasto was something you only read about in the music press if you did not go and it only made the telly when it was a mud bath or traffic problems?

I assume the people who used to do that are now running the BBC.

Anyone got any hacks for flattening a warped record? It's only slight - still plays fine but not ideal. Google's first suggestion was 'use an iron', which seems... stupid.

  • Rather than trying to flatten it you could try using a record weight when playing it - they tend to work better for records with a slight warp.

  • I've thought about getting one before - would you say they're worth it?

  • Something you may want to consider is that oven baking causes the vinyl to release a mixture of carcinogenic gases such as dioxins. These harmful fumes can permanently infiltrate the inner wall of your oven and every time you cook something, your food could include these deadly contaminants.
