My daughter has ordered the new shirt for me as a combined birthday / father's day present:
So I take back my earlier comment about people over 40 not wearing football shirts in public, and will be wearing this one to all Saturday home games, and around the town at every opportunity. It looks really good and classy, can't wait for August.
My daughter is taking me to lunch at the Royal Standard of England next Monday (prices on the actual day no doubt being even more exorbitant than usual).
I’m seriously thinking about buying the new quartered shirt. I’ve never worn a replica shirt before but why not. I am still in reasonable shape for an octogenarian. It’d be a bit of a larf.
Did I read correctly that pre-order items won't be dispatched until the week commencing 14th August, which could mean up until the 19th, plus delivery time, and also "subject to supplier delivery" ??
So the shirt that we have for one season, isn't actually for a whole season as you will likely get it 3 weeks in.
Not sure about the one season comment, but I did read that it's a 5 year deal with Hummel. Even with my basic maths, the 2 year period for kit change doesn't fit in that equation.
it would be a real travesty if the two nicest kits we've had for goodness knows how long were each only used for a year. And completely needless for the new one, given that we may extend the contract - who knows? Make it 2 years wherever you can, in line with the charter.
Rightly or wrongly (and I think every home kit should last two seasons, especially in the current climate), the charter ultimately counts for nothing. It's not binding.
Though I love new kit launches, two years is perfect, especially if it is home-away-home-away in alternate seasons. Once per season feels like a money grab, and we would not get enough time with decent kits.

Why not @micra good for you.

I will still buy it though!
Sorry - why would we only have it for one season?

Keep this one for five years
You can still get last season's for 47 quid by the way. Get in quickly!

Is it being marketed as the 23/24 kit? I've not known Hummel to do two-year cycles elsewhere.
But doubtless the Trust would object in the strongest terms to a change in the charter.
It clearly states that this is the kit for 23/24 season.

Do it!
That doesn't mean it's not for the 24/25 season though, does it?
If only to wear it to the Pantry! @Twizz must be back from his holidays by now. But I suppose delivery is likely to take at least a fortnight.
Advice please.
Delivery of the shirt. Not @Twizz .

The importance the word "only" would make.
Especially as the club are in the habit of signing players and saying they'll be "here next year".
So we don't really know if it's "Only" next year or further.
Maybe someone on the trust/board/knows someone could clarify if it's a one year ONLY kit?
Would certainly put me off if it is.
I'm still burnt by that gold kit and managing to only see us play about twice in it.
Going to see them in Reading later this year.
I also base my theory on a "5 year deal" probably meaning at least one, if not all of the kits over the next 5 years are going to be for one season.
I'm no marketing expert, but if this kit was for 2 seasons surely the club would have made a huge point of that.
Did Oneils terminate the contract early because we owed them a considerable amount ??
Did Hummel pay off a fair chunk of that debt ??
Maybe the 1 year kit, will repay some of the outlay Hummel forked out ??
Why would the club make a big thing of a kit lasting 2 years when pretty much every kit we've had in league days has been 2 years?
I'd suggest it's a more reasonable viewpoint to suggest the onus is on the club to make it clear it's ONLY one year.
Yes I back from holiday @micra.
No idea on shirt delivery 🚚.
The wording is exactly the same as last years' - "kit for the 23/24 season".
Anything more and it would 100% say "23/24 and 24/25 season".
It's called a "caveat". If sales are crap, the club have the option to change it up without any push back.
Don't worry though. You should be able to grab one in the "once in a lifetime" sale at the end of the season.
