To the person who downvoted this, can you name just one thing that is better now than when the Tories took charge in 2010?
I’m not trying to be facetious, but I really can’t think of anything positive then you look at schools, the NHS, the trains, water, international relations, conduct in parliament, interest rates, inflation, productivity, national debt, personal debt, rent, life expectancy, mental health, social care, the police force, the armed forces and pretty much anything else measurable in the country…
If Starmer succeeds in becoming Prime Minister in the next eighteen months, it is fact that he will become just the second Labour politician to win an election in the last 50 years
. Your view that anyone could have done the same is merely your (hardly unbiased) opinion. With respect it’s an opinion that seems to conflict with history. you no doubt would wish a further left leader yet when Labour has tried that in the past Foot got slaughtered embedding a decade of damaging Thatcher policies and Corbyn managed to lose to the openly laughed at Maybot and to the worst PM we have ever had in Johnson and managed to facilitate the greatest peace time act of self harm our country has taken in Brexit. History would suggest that while hard left policies are popular with members, they are simply not adequately popular with voters.
Does anyone actually like Starmer? Or know what he stands for? He is a void, a placeholder. My politics doesn’t align with Tony Blair but, much like Obama, he was a remarkably competent politician.
May was pretty well regarded before the 2017 election campaign, and generally expected to win comfortably. It’s only in hindsight that she has become a joke (and was she really any worse than any of her successors?)
So what you are effectively saying, is that Starmer is a Tory in all but name, and if in power would be supported by the same corporate donors, and would pursue broadly the same policies as the current Government.
So the logical conclusion to all that, is why vote for Tory-lite, when you can have the real thing?
This was a party political broadcast by @drcongo, on behalf of the Conservative & Unionist party.
Aaron Ramsey has looked finished for years. I’d genuinely rather sign a League 2 player with solid statistics, even if they were a more expensive option.
Johnson's "landslide" victory was off the back of 13.97m votes. May got 13.64m in 2017. So Johnson got 2% more votes than May, and his share of the votes was only 1.2% more than May. Popular in the media (who put him there) and appealed to a different set of votes but not sure being 2% more popular than May makes someong "extremely popular"
Politicians, not unlike popular TV presenters, newsreaders and DJs who top popularity polls and sometimes believe their own publicity...once they've been dumped for 'exciting new opportunities' ( Great Radio, local telly, board of a polluting conglomerate or the speaking circuit) a year down the line you struggle to remember who they were when they appear on Pointless Celebrities. Not many people demanding a peerage for Beery Nige now he's seen gurning into a news mike far less. Out of sight, etc etc. Fingers crossed.

I think you've missed the subtle point Chris was making
To be fair Starmer complete with faults has to be a step up from the recent collection of ever more awful music hall turns.
Looking odds on that Starmer will be the second Labour leader to win an election in 50 years.
Not through anything he has done I would say, and would be equally true of whoever was in post.

Thatcher's been dead longer and Tebbitt's closer to death.
It's Liz Truss's resignation honours list next. You'll be begging to go back to this page.

I got all excited about 21 new posts until I started reading them ...
I've heard Sturgeon's been released and is available on a free transfer

Nope. I just like pointing out what a weak lemon drink Starmer is at any given opportunity.
Long lived and late maturing (according to Wikipedia), so could be an excellent prospect.
Might fail the character test though.
And Johnson might be in the running for worst ever PM but he was extremely popular.
Her ambition is to play in the Euros

Lolz!
Aaron Ramsey is out of contract soon. Maybe Vokes can convince him that Marlow is a bit like Nice?
It is a bit
There's not as much gossip in Nice mind
Aaron Ramsey has looked finished for years. I’d genuinely rather sign a League 2 player with solid statistics, even if they were a more expensive option.
Nice is turning into a bit of a cluster feck at the moment. Talk of owner interference etc.
As Ramsay has been on up to 400k a year, would a "solid" league 2 player actually be a more expensive option?!
Of course not. Im trying to highlight how little I think of Aaron Ramsey’s footballing ability in the present day.

Even now he polls as the most popular Tory politician with YouGov, and is more popular than Tony Blair.
To be fair, he's not a war criminal who invaded a muslim country on a christian crusade. Yet.

Ryan Tafazolli responded:
"Revs - Beaconsfield 😂😂😂"
Love it!
