Think the consensus was he has access to some money but nobody is quite sure how much, or where from, think he got stuck in the application process for Morecambe, not sure if the league actually turned him down or if he's in holding.
Considering Wigan's owners were promising to put in over £10m in any day now it's all very odd.
The Saudi government have just bought the top 4 teams in their league ready to fill them with ageing Real and Barca players, and in the last half hour they have bought Golf. Did someone go away for the weekend and leave one of the kids with the credit card?
The golf thing is very instructive. So many in the PGA on their high horse about morals, and are now going to have to either follow through on their bluster or take the money like everyone else.
Golfers may be greedy venal people but they had an idea of history and veneration of the sanctity of their competitions that perhaps they felt was sullied by woman hating gay hating press killers buying it all up. Everyone has a price as we all know but might not all have been bluster.
(Not a golf fan so I may be simplifying the issue too much for lovers of the game...)
True - we have yet to see who was blustering, aside from Jay Monahan. I must say I don't expect to see any resignations from the PGA Tour over this, but we'll see. It does put those PGA golfers in a spot. It's a bit like Newcastle being taken over. Their fans already loved the club before it happened, so I can imagine them being conflicted about suddenly being supposed to drop their life long institution. Really most of this falls at the door of the PGA itself, who have pulled the rug out on their own golfers.
It is important for everyone to realize that the PIF are now the exclusive funders of the new tour though - in effect, a whole sport is being used to sportswash now.
"In Germany, the teams who finish 16th in the Bundesliga and third in Bundesliga 2 contest the relegation play-off. The first leg is played at the home of the Bundesliga side and the second leg is played at the home of the Bundesliga 2 team. The winner over two legs claims Bundesliga status in the season that follows".
Sorry @bargepole couldn't find anything in the Morning Star on this so went with the Graun - any views?
"It is terrifying because here is an illustration of just how precarious it can be to live at the mercy of a wealthy owner initially willing to absorb losses."
This comes as no surprise, the writing has been on the wall for London Irish for quite a while now. I understand that Leicester Tigers and Exeter Chiefs are also in a precarious financial position, only propped up (for now) by wealthy backers.
This situation also applies to some football clubs, many of whom are running at a substantial loss, and in the case of Wigan Athletic, it may be a terminal one.

I thought I’d seen it on the Gasroom before but may have come across it somewhere else.
Didn't he turn out to not actually have any money?

This takes fireworks to a new level completely 😳
Failing to pass the fit and proper owners test is an achievement in itself.

@Shev why do you consider it bluster? Wasn't it just a principle?

The PGA/LIV merger is pretty extraordinary.
It's not state ownership, just like the whole Newcastle thing definitely isn't state ownership...
Imagine the size of the bunkers.
I love this format....

Serie A reintroduced play-offs for teams tied on points for the title/relegation this season - one-off game at a neutral venue, Spezia v Verona
That's how the play-offs in England were originally. Not a fan, personally!
Neil Warnock to stay on as Huddersfield manager - 16 years after saying the Palace job would be his last!
Not really. 'Money talks and bullshit walks' is a general rule of life.

How is Jude Bellingham still only 19!
It seems Messi has said no to Saudi millions and is going to Inter Miami instead
Only for another 22 days!
The Saudis have been paying him 30 million euros a year to be their "tourism ambassador"!!!!
The Saudis will probably copy the owners of Man City and buy a few clubs around the world.
Messi will be in for a surprise when they buy Inter Miami next week. Not as surprised as us when they buy out the Couhigs in July.
A girl can dream.......
