They've signed a 5 year deal, would be risky to change the home shirt radically with their first effort and get people's backs up, wouldn't be too surprised though as they'll need to differentiate it from this year's fairly standard effort.
I think the issue with the "Sm*th" shirt wasn't so much that it was different, it was just awful. We haven't really deviated much since except for the effort a few years back that had some lines in the quarters and slightly strange shades of blue
From having a quick scan through the link that I believe Tom shared, there are a few examples of using the ‘quartered’ Coventry template but only one example of traditional quarters.
They have to make them slightly different each year otherwise your existing shirt doesn't look out of place and there'd be no reason to spend £50 on a new one, quite like that away kit , much happier for them to play around with that than the home shirt.

CE Sabadell (h) and Bristol City (a) in our colours will do just fine.
Cambridge had a light and dark blue Hummel job a few years back
This is about as far as I'd go as messing with the quarters. This kit is beautiful....
Coventry almost always look good, which is weird, because Man City always look boring!
A real blow for all those wanting Brookes, Mizuno or even Pro Star.
That's the one I first thought of
I'd hate that. Not really quarters, and what's with the pin stripes
I am hoping Hummel make a statement and come out of the gate strong with us.
No surprise to see Allsopp stuck on the lines
Nick Freeman?
This Cov kit from 19/20 was quite nice. Obviously in the right blue, clearer quarters, and a bespoke twist, something similar would be nice.
This one is quite nice.
Not sure about Hummel. Have they ever made any sky blue kits with quarters (or quarter-like effects) that we could look at for comparison?
I'd take this as an away kit
Try saying that sponsor when you've had a few!
Actually, saying it sober is a difficult task too!
This one is pretty good
Apparently, it is compulsory that you check your studs every two minutes when wearing the shirt
1986 &1992 great seasons for shirts, just saying
So how would everyone feel if we ended up with gradated quarters like the Coventry above? Too much?

I’d rather just have quarters.
Would not be impressed, don't like it. We wear quarters, just give us quarters, it's not that hard is it ?

A couple of minutes to spare so I ran up a rough 'Wycomised' version of this one...
I think pinstriped quarters is a slick look
Away ‘86, Third strip ‘92. Just saying
We used to have Bodger & Keith Searle play up front - and very effective they were too - but I wouldn't want them playing now!
Some variation on a theme has to be possible or it's the same kit every four years and they just rotate the quarters every second year.
I could live with this!
