I've been there in the past, for Wales v England games in the 6 Nations.
A great day out in great city, as far as I can remember after all the pints consumed. But as those posted photos show, lots of Welsh tarts flashing their knickers, and puking into the gutter.
A good point has been made about police cost’s regarding who ever we play. The plus side of playing a big side is that you get better crowds, but the drawback will be the cost of the police if they insist on having a presence which will then eat into the testimonial fund.
probably at the wrong end of the season, but ideally we could have a game against a Welsh legends team along the lines of the Martin O’Neills International team that was put together for the last game at Loakes Park
It's an interesting question but I think it can best be answered by saying this will be his testimonial season with WWFC.
It's an admission that he has a one year contract and is unlikely to get a further contract with WWFC.
If he waited until 1st July 2024 - his 10 yr Anniversary - then he quite probably won't be a WWFC player any more.
There are no tax/NI implications for having a testimonial season after 9 rather than 10 years, other than perhaps making the payout from the testimonial fund after 1st July 2024 when he no longer has a playing contract.
10 years was always the traditional time, but even if he'd not hit this 10th year it'd take a real miserable bastad to deny him one wouldn't it? Especially these days when it's even more special staying so long at one club.

This is a strange thread, are the Gasroom on the beach already?
Where is the ambition?
If you’re judged by the company you keep then Cardiff is a none game against a nothing club.
Remember that sunny summers evening when Chelsea came to town? Near sell out. Blooms testimonial wasn’t it?
That has to be the level of our aspiration surely?
………Ok Wrexham it is then.
You must have met different fans to the ones throwing piss at us on the terrace and bricks at our coaches!!
ps agree about the city generally. Have had a couple of superb weekends in Cardiff
Where do you live @Malone
I was there Eric. And yes it was some experience
Cardiff is one of the greatest cities in the Uk
The sight of Wycombe and Cardiff fans, linking arms, and sending armchair Manu fans into the Bristol Channell was beautiful
The humiliation of Manchester United is not a recent thing
This was 2001
In my opinion the Welsh are fantastic. Cardiff is one of the best cities in the UK.
Worst thing about the UK..sad Manu fans from anywhere other than Manchester
Pathetic
Really need to lock your account after 6pm
The biggest issue about playing Cardiff I would guess is policing costs, like the Celtic game we had.
For anyone who's never had a night out in Cardiff, this series of photos captures it perfectly. https://www.maciejdakowicz.com/cardiff-after-dark/

Cardiff is a great city. If you haven't had some of the wildest nights of your life there it's probably because you're a sweaty little virgin.

Has there ever been a police presence at an Adams Park friendly?
Did they not headline the week after Lionel Richie
Large police presence at this charity match.....
Yep, policing costs could wipe out any profit for a testimonial or certainly heavily reduce the profit.
Superb!

Presumably discussions will be in place with the local police about the level of policing if any required. I certainly hope so for JJs sake.
Dumb question I am sure, but why does JJ get a testimonial after nine years? Does a player become eligible entering his tenth year?
Ive also had a weekend in Cardiff before... I can confirm Cardiff IS a great night out

Matt Crossley did his 10 years, left, was awarded the testimonial year, but never got to have the game. That's the risk I suppose.
