If I remember correctly, Mark West had his testimonial match against Portsmouth in 1993. By my reckoning he’d only been a Wycombe player for eight years at that time. I think he left soon afterwards. Presumably then he had to wait two years before he picked up the money.?
Liverpool can be pretty wild but the chaos is a lot less concentrated than Newcastle and Cardiff. I've sadly never had a night out in Glasgow but you could well be right.
@drcongo has a point about some city centres being naturally less concentrated. Leeds, for example, has several different ‘lively areas’, but it’s quite a walk between them all.

That makes a lot of sense, thanks! I certainly would not want to deny JJ any of this honour, and I am glad he will get the match.
Of course, I also think Nick Freeman should get one for seven years of service (ducks for cover).
Thanks! That jogged my failing memory.
only a matter of time before someone wants to give someone a testimonial for having a good game
Peter Garland testimonial committee meets 3 or 4 times a season actually
Frankly other than the text on the police cars those photos could be any Friday night in any British town or City
I think only the bigg market in Newcastle rivals Cardiff city centre for Saturday night chaos.
Liverpool would be up there as well, as would Glasgow

It's right up there. Fantastic night out
Of course. At my house.
How insulting to the people of those great cities. You do seem to me a sheltered inexperienced person @drcongo
A night out in Swansea can be pretty lively.

City Square and along Boar Lane is the closest Leeds gets to a Bigg Market feel. Stay east of Briggate and you can have quite a chill night out.
