Just so I can get this right we don't want anyone released from the league we are in where everyone has more money than us, or the one below, but we do want people from the one below that? or Croatia, or Churches? Posters need to be clearer, MB is new at this, should he be praying for targets to come to him or be hanging around in graveyards and asking mourners if they have the passion we need and a cultured left foot?
@StrongestTeam we need The Player(s) who will secure promotion and anything less is a sign of a lack of ambition. What could be simpler? We should be looking at loans from Premier League clubs, highly skilled but unused players out of contract or past it in the leagues above, 30 goal a season strikers from the Leagues below, a promising starlet or two from non-league and a marquee signing to be unveiled on the opening day of the season to ensure bums on seats. Then we need three good cup runs and at least one visit to Wembley. No sleep for MB between now and August. Most definitely so.
Anything less is unacceptable. Signings need to be young and hungry but also proven and experienced, known but cheap, available but never having failed, Great personality needed but nobody flash, we need to be free flowing but never give the ball away, most of all need to show pashun. Easy job. MB has my full support for at least the first couple of games.
It is tough to get too excited about potential transfers at our level. With the big clubs, there are a lot of journalists sniffing out leads, and something like 'Arsenal want Declan Rice' becomes an open secret which fans of the clubs in question can follow with interest. With us, the really valid rumours tend to be communicated by an ITK pretty close to when the signing/transfer happens. So it's hard to put too much stock in who gets released and who is available for most of the summer, as there is no real foundation of substance to really build interest upon, as it feels like playing darts with possible destinations rather than any true indication of a club's intentions.
Depends on formation and if Grimmer is going to be one of the Centrebacks, JMac as first choice with Grimmer having to move across (mid game in the event of any injuries) whenever needed isn't ideal.
Unless we sign another couple of CB's then we only have one RB who at best is passionate and quite good, but if we want to mount a challenge then, (and I feel really uncomfortable saying this), McCarthy is not good enough.
Obita will be an interesting one for sure - I hope we keep him. With that being uncertain, I would say we have the following nailed on starters (if fit) on our books:
Stryjek
Grimmer
Forino
Taffs
Scowen
Wheeler
GMac
Vokes
JJ is likely to start, and McCarthy is capable of starting, so we may just be a creative midfielder and wide forward away from a good starting 11. Obviously we have to build beyond that to have some depth, and creativity especially is at a premium, but we still have the makings of a good side before a single name has been added.
Well actually you are both right (well almost) and both wrong.
Meteorogical summer runs from June1 to 31Aug and as it’s name suggests is used by weathermen. Those dates really have no scientific basis beyond measuring and comparison convenience.
The more scientifically valid astronomical summer is calculated based on measurements of the earths tilt towards the sun. It’s dates can vary but this year runs from June21 to Sept23rd.
I believe that means that EFL regular season football is more a summer game than a spring one.
Being born on the 23rd of September, me, Bruce Springsteen, Paolo Rossi and, er, Nicholas Witchell, are all strong respecters of the end of summer being marked by the Autumnal Equinox.
Don’t wish to cloud your sunshine, @mooneyman but the Meteorological Office, my erstwhile employers in the late ‘fifties and the leading authority in this fair land on all things related to ‘the elements’, have decreed it thus.

I suspect Phil of the stunning website.

may have the data to hand.
Kingsley seen at Cressex Service Station etc
Worst Mr Men character ever
Better than him!
Sounds tiring.
Especially after being sold a pup with that lad Showme Da’maney
Think we found him in Essex.

Lloyd Jones looks like he would be a good signing. I think we need...
1 or 2 CBs
1 x Lb
1 x Rb
1 x Cm playmaker
1 x winger
1 x striker
Wow....that's a new team
Just wondering, do we really need another RB with Grimmer and McCarthy staying?

McCarthy is not good enough. I know he loves the club etc etc but don’t know why we have resigned him.
Going to be a long summer.

I'm sorry, but JJ should not be starting next season
I agree with the 8 you have listed, but any one else left is not a starter for me
Yes, I should have put start "at times", as it us inevitable they will get called upon at some point.
I wouldn’t be relying on Gmac to start two games a week at the age of 36 (as a winger). That would be poor planning.
Its only one day longer than the normal 22nd September!
Oy!! Watch it @mooneyman. Summer runs from 1 June to 31 August these days. And that’s official 😎

7:50am BST this year.
We need to build way beyond that @Shev or we will be facing a very difficult season indeed.
No it ain't sunshine!

I don’t know about @DevC ‘s Meteorogical Office!😎
You say that, but the funny thing is, we seemed to rest him a bit more 2 seasons ago.
It's about how fit you are rather than age to be fair.
Especially clear when we've just released two mid to late 20 somethings who couldn't stay fit for 5 games in a row for years.
No, as per my original post I think we are completely set and don't need to add a single player! :)
Joking aside, I agree entirely!
The Astronomical calendar takes precedence over your ex employers Mr Fish!
