Me no understand. Aaah, I just fell in, kerplonk. A Championship relegation battle. Your posts are so cleverly oblique that I thought you’d discovered some obscure way of finding something beneficial in Scowen helping us to avoid relegation to League 2.
For some reason, the post with the picture of Max won’t copy down. I just wanted to say that the dog alongside him doesn’t look like Major as I remember him in that picture with @bluntphil. I thought Max (sorry, Major) was a Rottweiler. The dog on the sofa looks a gentle soul and certainly isn’t a Rotty.
These veterans signing back up does make it appear that that MB has indeed carried on the culture. Do we really think they would all be signing back on if we had brought in Nathan Jones or Derek Adams?
For all the 'TBD' nature of MB on the pitch (though I think he has already shown bright indications) the reasoning of culture continuance already seems somewhat validated.
The odd understandable lapse aside, JJ seems to me to be playing as well as ever lately with a surprising number of forward “surges”. Decent turn of pace in short bursts as well.
He looked really good at Centre Back working on interceptions and positioning, at Left back now he needs to play occasionally or have good cover in front and alongside, can't be expected to chase after quick wingers, has done as well as could be expected though recently.
Reminds me. Saw the vandalism in the news but haven’t got round yet to one of the best TV ‘sports’ (?) beyond football, cricket and tennis. Enjoyed the last tournament, especially the final and also the Gods of Snooker documentary series.
It is quite amusing hearing Vokes called 'A Welshman'. He is an Englishman who qualifies for the Welsh team because a grandfather was born there. (Making allowance for how he sees himself, of course, just my perspective).
Both of my paternal grandparents were fully Irish, but having been born and raised in Hertfordshire I would feel funny being called 'An Irishman', even though half of my ancestry is from there and I have a lot of affinity for the place (to the degree of primarily supporting their national teams).
I'd never deride someone for their choice of national identity or for taking the opportunity to play international football, it's all a very odd concept if you dig into it in any detail. But he wasn't born in a gaff in the Valleys.
Ive always found it interesting that the Welsh have maintained their language and culture to a greater degree than the other Celtic countries but are less known outside these islands.
Think one theory might be that the Irish remained proud Irish in the US and Oz where more of the English either became the new country or were thoroughly ashamed of the old one, but each individual has their own ties and stories and it's not as if FIFA can make rules that fit all cases. For every family that visits the homeland regularly and decorates up for Paddy's Day each year there are also Jack Charlton squads full of people who had no idea they were eligible until they were phoned up. There are some good stories about quite how shambolic Bobby Gould's spell in charge of Wales was, seems most weekends sounded more like an 18-30 holiday than a training camp.
Yes, I believe German is the most common heritage for Americans, though there obviously tends to be a lot of mixture. My wife's parents did the DNA thing and had everything under the sun, though with Norwegian and German the most prominent.

We'll all be laughing on the other side of our ass if we do end up in a relegation battle in this division!
Doesn't bear thinking about.

POTY
GMac and Max and then we have the basis for a very good team. Matt B can then add some new faces and we could be pushing for the play offs again.
Nurse is late putting me to bed tonight and I’ve just caught up with today’s Gasroom musings.
Sorry @LX1 but a team with Scowen alone would have difficulty competing against Widmer End Combined Community Primary School Under 5s I think. LOL 🤣🤣🤣

Nice, Please Max next on a 5 year deal..😎
Hopefully an American precedent has been set and its an 8 year deal!
Come on, GMac... get your pen out, son...!
Players have to bring their own pens to sign contracts? Times are tougher than I thought.
I was assuming GMac would want to use his Montblanc... 😀

Now Sam the taff was born in a gaff
In the valleys of the land of song
And as the goals he puts to bed
He likes to sing along
"If I win", he says with a grin
"It can only help us, can't it?"
"I can't wait til we've signed another eight"
"And Rob's got the rest of us signed up"
Snooker loopy nuts are we
Me and him and them and me
We'll show you what we can do
With a load of balls and a snooker cue
Pot the reds then screw it back
For the yellow, green, brown, blue, pink and black
Snooker loopy nuts are we
We're all snooker loopy

Great pome, @LX1 .
Yes a great sport and very calming. Maybe we should organise a gasroom snooker tournament, winner gets to spend a day with Sam Vokes.
Love this but think Chas and Dave were both born nearer to Wales than Sam was.
Ha come on @StrongestTeam are you trying to say he is not Welsh boyo!

I agree - I wasn't deriding him at all, and I know he has spoken about how much he loves the experience.

Isn’t every American Irish?
Yet five times the number of English emigrated to the US of A and over double in the case of France.
And a large number of Germans, a factor in being late to a couple of 20th century ‘parties’.
And waiting for a large cheque from the Bank of England to clear.
