So in the last few days, we have resigned 4 senior players, much against what most posters on this forum predicted bearing in mind our financial position. Great news.Clearly some big names still to get over the line, Taff, Max, Vokes, Wing, and GMac. I expect Wing will go for a transfer fee. Hopefully Gape/ Thompson would replace him. Cannot see many clubs queuing up to offer them terms bearing in mind their injuries this season. GMac will be 36 in May, so how many suitors will be knocking at his door.? So I think we may keep him. The other 3 could certainly play in the lower regions of the Championship, so I would assume they will be offered terms that we cannot match. However, fingers crossed, more good news will follow in the next few days with Andrew Howard and Pete Couhig working their magic.
I would be extremely surprised if GMac signed for anyone else. I suspect he will accept reduced terms with us, with allowance for greater consideration to whatever comes next for him.
McCleary is one of those guys who strikes you as someone who has earnt his huge money and the big picture for him now is to play somewhere he's loved, in a good squad atmosphere and close to home. He's got all 3 here.
Great news for them both but not sure they would be in big demand for league 1 clubs and imagine not big dents on our wage budget , let's see if Taf , Wing , Max and Vokesy sign , this will show how much intent the owners have.
McCleary will surely sign, assume he likes it here and will be happy to stay on reduced terms. Max for me is the big one, if only we knew for definite what the players contracts were ! Would love Vokes to stay also on reduced terms. Tbh I'm not sure we can do both Gape and Thompson espc considering the amount of time they both miss out in a season, surely we have Young, Pattenden and Ward to step in now ? I'm not expecting every member of the squad to be offered new terms and am quite happy to see a few youngsters get some games next season along side the more experienced pros.
We confirm the re-signing of Jacobson, Scowen, Wheeler and Grimmer - all excellent players who performed well in the Championship and have been outstanding in League One - and some people still can’t raise a smile and compliment the club on doing good business.
Don't see any criticism of the signings @glasshalffull. There is some wondering about who could be next but I don't think anyone has been negative about the good news stories to date.
Will certainly be interesting how the rest pan out, but we've made a great start so far.
Takes a lot of uncertainty away and reduces the fear some had of the biggest switcheroo of playing cast ever seen here.
I wouldn't want to be complacent, but I'd be surprised if McCleary and Max don't end up getting renewals.
Vokes feels like the trickiest one, just on the perception of what sort of money he was on as close as 2 seasons back, and being a decent level name and still only 33.
Hopefully he's another who has banked the million or two, and pure job and home life satisfaction ride out over a bit more money elsewhere.
@glasshalffull i think everyone on here are delighted and there has been praise for the club.
The only slight doubt is where does the playing budget come from if we are in league 1? Probably why we have discussed possible player sales to fund it.
So if I am right, we could line up as following next season based on who we have under contract?
Not bad at all, considering we have plenty of time to sign others. A bit crowded in midfield (I don't think Young is going to be a starter), but nice to have this much talent already committed.
Perhaps you forgot writing this: ‘I think the real test will come in whether we offer Sam Vokes, Garath McCleary, Jordan Obita, Lewis Wing and Ryan Tafazoli new contracts.’ Note that you didn’t mention Max but we all know what you think of him.

You're a ray of sunshine today aren't ya.

We do already have Wing under contract, though I join you in hoping for the other three!

Taf has already signed hasn't he? He was on that list of updated contracts on the agent thread the other day?

As far as I can see, not one person is having a go at the club
Perhaps this thread would've remained entirely positive if you hadn't decided to goad supporters like a bored teenager?
@aloysius the way you avoid goading people is a lesson for us all.
The negative posters have a sound MO in a way though don't they.
Wait until something goes wrong, and they can use it as proof they were right!
It’s a classic tactic. Keep it negative and you can’t lose.
If the prophesy comes to pass, it’s ‘I told you’. If it doesn’t, ‘happy to be proved wrong’ or ‘delighted I inspired a change’.
Easy.
I just wish I was a bored teenager.
This isn't an ITK statement, but my PREDICTION is this.....
Ryan Tafazolli will be playing for Bolton next season, especially if they are in the Championship.
Doesn't take a genius to work out why.
It's the long spells of wasting time away you look back at on your teens and 20s.
When you get to our ages you have much better uses of your time.
Like erm...prowling around on here...
Agreed. Very obvious.
The woman who owns Bolton has sons who have a business based in Beaconsfield, and they sponsor a stand.
Taf loves Revs, based in Beaconsfield.
Pretty obvious.

Hopefully more signings to come tomorrow 😀
Remember when transfers could happen with no warning at any point in the season?...the Gasroom would have had a breakdown every week.
So if I am right, we could line up as following next season based on who we have under contract?

TBD

Wing

"Revsgate" still gets mocked.
First "reported" by me, and got laughed at. Not so funny when I told you all about GA and Mehmeti.
It's me laughing every time you bring it up.
Much to Alan's disappointment

And also that Wing has already signed a new contract until 2024
God if I made it gasroom famous as much as tafa at revs .. I’d be at revs every week.
Thanks @Blue_since_1990. Was grappling with that one.
It was quite a big thing at the time. Fit but not in the squad.
