Quite surprised to be fair but I think it says more about the warmth Josh must feel at Wycombe from fans and management alike. I am pretty sure he could get a better financial deal somewhere as... well he is pretty much the best midfielder in the league.
He'd obviously play there with us, but a 30yo with a realistic ceiling of lower Champ isn't going to be on the radar of most clubs at that level, even as a free agent. He's one of the best players in League One, but his age profile was always going to count in our favour.
To answer that with another question, if we go up this season, would you expect him to continue to be one of the first names on our team sheet next season?
the answer to both your and my questions, imho, would be yes.
Sometimes your devotion to statistics can cloud your judgment. He’s 30, at the peak of his career and free from injury could have another 3-4 seasons before he’ might be considered to be in decline. I suspect a number of Championship clubs would be interested and I know of one manager at that level who would sign him in a heartbeat.
His age doesn't really matter if you're only handing out a one or two year contract , he'd have no resale value but again that doesn't really matter if you sign him on a free.
The bigger points on this one might be that we tend to overdo it thinking everyone is after all our players when other managers constantly bang on about how poor our style of play is or how they can't believe we beat them, and that he's been around, come back and is happy here.
I have no doubt Josh could play at a higher level...and that a certain manager in a team above would sign him in an instant (if he could!) but he's been burnt by torrid experiences at QPR and Sunderland and surely as long as he's first name on the teamsheet, MOTM (for me) almost every game, we can pay him and he's enjoying it, I assumed he would stay.

The best extension possible. For me that means we aren’t getting relegated next season
Huge news, brilliant stuff.
Brilliant news - has made my day!
Oioi
Absolutely brilliant. Without doubt our player of the season
Josh (like Mawson etc) knows where his heart is and where he’s happiest. Hope his contract rewards his loyalty. I’m pretty sure it does.
Superb news.
Read that and thought, right how much is the season ticket going up by then, but no, frozen price. Nice work.
Fantastic news!
Frozen until 5th May…. Then what?
Scowen staying is the best news!!!!
Meant to say then what as a subscriber
Released for anyone to buy it.
Doesn't actually say if the price goes up.
There's something about If the club choose to put the prices up, maybe reserving right to put them up if we go up.
Glad they've gone sensible and frozen them for this period at least then.
£500 for 3rd tier is certainly top end.
This is fantastic news ! Has made a beautiful sunny day even better !
Would have thought he was likely to be one of the higher earners. Maybe budget not being cut as much as some expected/feared/wanted??
Great news.
Well today is a GOOOOOOD day

Yet again the Gasroom 'he'll be off if we don't go up' klaxon was premature.
Did anyone seriously think he was going to get another Champ move at his age?
He's not exactly 53 is he?
What happens if your ST renews after the May 5th deadline? Or maybe on the subscription model that doesn't matter?
Excellent news re Scowen btw. Just need to get Vokes & McCleary to sign now ...

Yes (see my explanation above)

On a basic level, I understand the subscription to simply be full cost / 12 months - no extra fee like in the past.
And that you have to stay in for a year.
If you quit 10months into year 2, would you in effect be getting your season ticket for 5/6 of the price?
It's no coincidence st prices have been Frozen at the same time as the Whiff away stand sponsorship.
I'll tell you then what..
Let it go, let it go
Can't hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door
I don't care what they're going to say
Let the match rage on
The toilets never bothered me anyway
Ecstatic to wake up to this. Scowen is the key to it all. The one man double pivot.
I thought we would look to keep our culture and team intact to a large degree, but what a signing!
