I think the Norwich keeper has to make a fine save from a JJ corner away to Norwich early in the Champo season too, though I may be exaggerating how good it was.
Kashket is the Millwall one referenced by @ReturnToSenda. The Samuel one (Watford) was him basically slightly sticking his butt into Foster and Foster sliding down his back in agony when he realized he was going to concede. Ben Foster openly admitted it was a good goal and that he deliberately dived on a podcast with Bayo.
Great news, it just shows that wise, calm heads with just a hint of mischief about them are worth just as much to a successful team as legs with optimum levels of spring and cartilage.
In keeping with my reputation for dreadful judgment of players’ positional versatility, I reckon JJ could still do a good job as the left-sided central defender next season, regardless of which division we’ll be in.
I refer of course to my outrageous suggestion of playing Forino “up front” in a desperate bid to undermine opposing defenders’ current ability to restrict us to a goal (or none) per game.
That's quite astonishing. There are players who have taken corners all their career and not scored direct once - 5 times is insane!! And should have been more. Wasn't there a disputed 3rd against Lincoln or did I imagine that?
Well, those two disallowed ones should both have counted, and there have been a lot of near misses from saves and woodwork - not to mention the corners heading in that were prodded home from inches away!
I don't think there can be much doubt that Joe Jacobson has been our greatest ever left back. And maybe as a left sided central defender in a back 5, we can get a few more games/ seasons out of JJ.
That was a cracking game and atmosphere. We had been awful all season (well after God left after the first 2 or 3 games) and that was the first game we actually seemed to be able to compete in for weeks. Shame we lost (3-2) but my abiding memory was just how much we as a crowd got behind the team.
@ChasHarps, I can't think of any recently but there may be some with more debutants in the early days, especially the longer trips in the Southern League, when many players couldn't afford to take Saturday morning off work, and fringe players were drafted in. I will have a look.
I think there were four debutants in the 5-0 win over Hartlepool in Feb 2012 - Paul Hayes, Gary Doherty, Craig Eastmond and Chris Hackett. All loanees if I remember correctly.

@bluntphil I just remembered JJ scored two corners in that hattrick against Lincoln, not one. What a legend!
Was it a dive? It was Kashket tugging at his gloves wasn't it?

I bet the man himself would remember a bunch more. I know there are a lot I have left out.
Ah yes, you're right.
There were definitely 4 or 5 huge calls that went against us that season.
The Horgan offside when absolutely miles on the most critical.
Yeah, The "GoPro in the goal" YouTube blog from Wrexham's new signing managed to miss him letting one straight through him, strange that.
Must be a fair chunk of Bayos goals came straight from JJ too.

Look at pretty much any match highlight video of us from 2014-2020 and it likely includes a goal from a JJ set piece. Haha.
@bluntphil looks like an edit job for an intern from Bucks New Uni?
@bluntphil - JJ also scored direct corner away to Blackpool in 18/19, so that is the fifth of his five actual allowed goals:
18/19: Blackpool (A)
18/19: Fleetwood (A)
19/20: Lincoln (H) x 2
19/20: Fleetwood (A) - playoffs
Disallowed:
20/21: Millwall (H)
20/21: Watford (H)
Plus all the near misses, etc.

Check out the corner on 24 seconds here:
Bradford v Wycombe - YouTube
That was heading in before CMS scored the easiest goal of his life!
I don't recall a third one against Lincoln, though.
I’m a bit late to the party but well done jj . Definitely in my top ten players to pull on the shirt in the last 30 years.
And probably the most cheekily personable and articulate player at the club !

Did Sean Norman play left back for Wycombe?
Yes, made his debut with 3 others at Enfield in 87. Stan was quite a decent player.
Going back to the Enfield game, I wonder if that's a record for a mid season game, 4 debuts. Sean Norman,Matt Carmichael,Phil Lovell,Alan Myers.
@Steve_Peart
Excellent news and well deserved for JJ.
Means I get to shout "Shoot JJ, shoot!" For another season.
One of my very first favourite players
Proper hard man

Yes, his ability to laugh and joke with the officials before and after taking someone out is a delight.
Seems to irritate opponents though.

Excellent stuff Mr Catchers-Blunt, may have started something for us saddo's/anoraks.
