Same, think I need to stop and think for a bit instead of coming straight on and doing it. I went Gmac, but on reflection Max kept us in that game, should be him really
Glad you said that @HolmerBlue. I feel better about my ramblings. They really did help me decide on Max.
On the wrong thread but I read Barton’s post-match comments somewhere (in which he stubbed a metaphorical cigar into his skipper) and said something to the effect that he was particularly disappointed by his performance as it was in (or at) the ‘mem’. I had no idea what he meant. The only thing I could think it might be was a weird abbreviation of memorial as I believe they play at the Memorial Ground.
Thanks @PBo. Bit like ‘Uni’, ‘telly’ and PBo. Think I use the middle one myself, to be honest. But I never say “…as best we can” - I say “as well as we can” - because ‘best’ (like ‘unique’) is an absolute, not subject to differing degrees. At least I thought so until today when Susie Dent revealed (shock, horror) that because ‘unique’ has gradually changed its meaning (from ‘a one off’), it is now ok to refer to something as very unique.
I’m not going to argue with such an eminent etymologist!
One massive stand that looks like it's been stolen from some seaside prom, then another 7 or 8 mismatching stands that look like they've been hired for the week.
Worst view is surely from that stand opposite the away terrace, where the end of it is actually a few metres behind the goal line. View to the other end must be woeful.
Away decision between getting drenched in the terrace with no roof, and losing the ball completely in one corner.
Or a poor seating area, where the crossbar can block a decent bit of the pitch in the middle of the stand, or if you're too low, can barely see the other end.
I think it's something he's had to learn in order to have any impact for the national team, where he's often isolated in attack against world class defenders and has to be able to find these pockets of space to be able to do anything. Can't wait to see how his time at Wycombe has changed how he approaches international football next week.
Thanks. I’ll have a look. Interesting that it’s being played in the Algarve. That would be quite a fun long weekend. Mind you it’s a long way to Charlton from Faro on the Saturday.

They're all legends
The fact we can debate about who was more brilliant is always a good thing!
Absolutely because... 1) they beat Bristol Rovers 2) they beat Barton's Bristol Rovers

Yes, that’s it basically, “Mem” is their ground.

Quirkly ground isn't it.

Brilliant to park near though!

Out of interest inflikted, do you know if the two Gibraltar matches are available to watch in the UK?
I think most Euro qualifiers are available on Sky Sports red button, at least I think they were in the Euro 2020 campaign.

Not if you start from Vippienne! 😉
A lot cheaper than Tom the drummers taxi to Bristol though…
There's always Dublin in June
