Burton Build-Up
Well that's a new one - "you know what you're going to get with Wycombe - but that's what we want to be like".

Hard to get excited. I think it’s going to be called off!
Hopefully the ref makes an early decision.
Good call, but there’s nothing to indicate a pitch inspection etc. in their preview.

Here’s the view from their forum:

From the Brewers Forum.
Worrying thing is that it's forecast to be below freezing (down to -5C) from 6pm tonight until 10am tomorrow.
We’ll be en route from the South Coast at 10.30 so I really hope they call it off early if need be. The frost is going to be the problem.
Here is a BBC weather update from just after 14:00 today. Now saying -7 degrees and mist overnight.
Sat am temperature should reach zero at 09:00.
Wondering if someone’s pressed the wrong button at BBC Weather. Now downgraded to minus 8!
Good news is it goes from minus 5 to 0 in just one hour tomorrow morning.
If it does actually go ahead, at least we can get food at sensible prices.
Pies and Pasties £3 .... that's how it's done !!
Oh, and something to read. A 48 page program for £3.. Nice to see some League 1 owners haven't lost the plot entirely.
Ironic that this is the weekend that Covid shut everything down and we were supposed to be playing Burton then too.
Was in a Nantwich bistro last night and heard Nantwich Town FC are planning to go for a 3g pitch for revenue
Burton Police appear to be doing a reasonable job of promoting the locals -

Loved that they do jacket potatoes.
Didn't love that they'd run out of any sort of fork/spoon etc by the time I got one.
That was a messy eat.
With Burton being the Brewers, it makes me wonder which division would be the best to have if you had access to everything from the nicknames of the teams. We would at least have beer and a chair to sit on in L1! Oh, and shrimp and cod to eat.
Cheers, I'll remember to take a selection of plastic cutlery. Don't fancy trying to eat faggots and mushy peas with frozen fingers.
I rather suspect that if there is an early pitch inspection, it will be inconclusive, and they will have another one an hour later, and maybe more after that. The final decision as to whether the game is on may not be made until around 1pm.
Certainly not ideal for those hardy Wycombe fans making the trek up the M40/M42, but if any part of the pitch is still rock hard by 3pm, the risk of serious injury to players is just too great.
Whoever is doing the BBC website weather for Burton atm must have had a liquid lunch. Currently forecasting an 8ºC temperature drop in 3hrs this afternoon, then a 5ºC rise in 1hr tomorrow morning. 🤔
English football is the most wondrous thing isn't it? We are so lucky
Maybe the Home secretary had a word, gotta stop talking down Britain by reporting the weather.
The BBC Weather app shows it is currently -7C in Derby. I've just spoken with a relative in Derby, he confirms it is currently +3C.
First they lose Ken Bruce and now this. Absolute joke.
They depreciated the temperature using an unusual technique to offset the cold weather. It's all above board.
What, like Gary Linekers pay arrangement 🤥
Oh, wait... Is it calculated using PPG? Must be really cold in Peterborough then.
You’d also be an able to Ram a Posh bird called Robin (Twice)
Use some Grecian 2000 if you’re going grey.
Plenty more I’m sure.
The Premier League would definitely not win, as there would only be toffees and cherries to eat.
Championship too, unless you fancy eating a swan or bluebird with your tangerine
Don't knock it until you've tried it @Shev
Although, now I'm wondering which division could produce the best turducken.
Pulling the thread vaguely back onto topic, interesting little statistic (well ish)
Burton Albion are the fourth club from Burton to have played in the football league. Only London has produced as many.
From the outside, and admittedly knowing very little about them, I've always likened Burton to us in size, the way they are run, what they are about and their achievements on a limited budget.
Whilst I like the above, I have an odd dislike for them for no apparent reason. Just because they are mediocre I guess?!
Is that why others don't like us?
