A tweet teasing the departure of a manager is a new one...
Wild Thing, we’ve got Lewis Wing…
If you can bear to click on a tweet from QPR you’re a braver and better man than I.
Earlier today my wife asked if, as a trust member and season ticket holder, I would receive a personal email from the club letting me know before they announced the news to the press.
well, the number of times we've had parent clubs screw us over by recalling a loan (Paul Hayes' 1st, Luke Moore, Marcello Trotta) , it's nice to be the screwer rather than the screwee for once.
Tracksuit it is, per QPR website.
The latest tweet pretty much confirms Blooms’ return.
Confirmed that Dobbo and Josh have also both gone.
I'd advise you not to watch the QPR announcement video. Heart tears seeing him in a different training top
I actually can’t think which one those 3 was the most painful. Possibly Trotta because of the form he was in.
Said the same on the other thread - it just does not look right!
Probably the best conclusion we could have hoped for in the circumstances - Mr Wycombe comes home
Feels particularly poignant right now.
It's worth remembering how he never really had a playing style. So many managers would come in trying to play like Guardiola, but he absolutely knew how to get the best out of whoever he put on the pitch.
Judas. Where’s the loyalty gone in the game.
This is obviously a joke. It’s been coming and he’s utterly deserved it. I will hate QPR if they continue their record of sticking by managers but I have no doubt he’ll do a job for them.
good luck Gaz. See you next season in the Champ. Hopefully.
Hang on! Has this article been up on our website for the last 2 hours and we haven't realised?!?!
What's the corner flag stuff all about?
Well well well. Such a sad day but tempered by Matty’s return. I don’t blame Gaz and the gang for going and I hope it works out well for him there and perhaps even higher.
But now it’s Matty’s time to shine. Wish I was going to be at his first game but alas that cannot be. Come on you Blues!
Signed a three and a half year contract, so probably not too worried if he gets sacked early. He’s in the money!!!
Wow wow wow.. ohhhh well..... the day has come... its here.
Gareth... dobbo.... it hurts, but we love you and wish you all the best. An unsuspecting pairing that have given us the best times at Wycombe since I became a die hard fan in '99
Ok.... Next chapter time.... it was always going to happen one day.... and all I have to say is..
OH MATTY MATTY!! MATTY MATTY MATTY BLOOMFIELD 💙
Turning a corner to go in a new direction?
This quite simply has to be the biggest day of news in our league history.
Losing arguably our best ever manager and announcing the replacement - our longest ever serving league player on the same day!?
Absolutely unreal day of mixed feelings.
We probably need a new thread for an Ainsworth & Dobbo tribute thread @drcongo ?
EDIT - Just saw an Ainsworth out official one - that'll do!
Just a reminder to everyone that the magic of Wycombe Wanderers is the supporters. Personnel come and go but it is we, the loyal fans that carry the flame that was lit by the men of Wheeler's field long ago. It was the thousands that poured through the gates in the post-war years that made us a force to be reckoned with. A dwindling but loyal support kept the faith in later decades and when Alan Gane blew on the glowing embers of our club, the fans returned in droves and the flame became a roaring inferno. They laughed when we said we would need more than 6,000 capacity at Adams Park but the fans were right and the club listened. It was the supporters that rescued us from the dark days of Hayes and the supporters that entrusted us to the safe hands in which we now reside. I could not be more excited about our new manager - welcome home! And we all know the reception he'll get from the Wanderers family on Saturday. Worried Shrews? You should be. COME ON YOU MIGHTY BLUES!
I’m saying goodbye to this thread after practically living on the last 24 hrs (and a bit more).
In a funny kind of way, I enjoyed every minute, sad though it is.
The humour of those on the gasroom will never cease to be a comfort in times like this, although I’m very glad it didn’t get derailed and turned into a pun-thread after 12 hrs.
Amen brother/sister/other @LDF 👍
Credit where it's due - it was @DevC who first predicted Critchley would get fired and Ainsworth might once again be in their sights (at least I think it was...)
Brilliant post @LDF 👍👍👍
