Col U fans arguing he was poor before they managed to get players in through Jan. The counter to that here is that he already has the players. He knows how they play, and surely they trust and like him enough to run through walls for him like they did Ainsworth.
Oh, and well done to the Couhigs. After Dobbo, I think Blooms is probably the most sensible choice to take over without completely derailing the rest of our season. Can't have been easy to persuade him to add several hours to his commute, but then again he's been having to spend time in Colchester so might be a blessed relief.
Eventually Gaz had to move on and I wish him all the very best at QPR but he’s left us in a healthy position with an excellent replacement who knows the club inside out.
I guess this shows us that the Couhigs do take the fan's opinions into account with regards to the club. If they wanted to go up, either this season or next, they would have moved for a higher profile manager with a record of promotion. Instead, we have a club legend who got 4 months experience at a different club and has come back to the club that he has been loyal to and has loved him in return.
Well said @drcongo Would appear well conducted negotiations over a matter of a couple of days to secure a successor who will of course be very well received by the WWFC faithful.
Thanks for everything, Gareth & Dobbo, an amazing period for being a WWFC fan. Good luck in your new endeavours.
Now time to get behind Blooms and the team for the remainder of the season - onwards and upwards COYB!!!
O Neill would have been a nostalgia overload, but I did fear that as the potential of it not going well and slightly tainting the past glorious memories would have been horrible.
I wonder if his style is continuity Ainsworth or whether Matt will shift the way we play. Will be interesting to see and also what happens to all those players out of contract in the summer. Interesting times ahead!
It's tough to speak of consolations, on a day when there really aren't anybut I'm thrilled to have Matt Bloomfield back, not just for the obvious reasons, but because it indicates the Couhigs really understand what the fans want.

Welcome, Blooms! Here's to another legendary 20 years or so!
Here's the Col U announcement for everyone's enjoyment https://twitter.com/ColU_Official/status/1628077100203749390
Welcome home Blooms. I have every faith in you.
Welcome home Matty, BAYO incoming as number 2 😜
No thank you to Blooms or anything 😬😬😬
Fantastic appointment, makes the heartache less painful. Dobson would of been my first choice but Bloomfield was a close second. Get in
I really hope he goes for Senda as assistant.
No mention of the staff members that will be joining him? Do you think any of them will make the move over?

Already said he should be strength and conditioning coach
@drcongo absolutely - that would be an awesome team

This is genuinely exciting news, feels like the adventure continues!! I would of been devastated if them overrated gimp brothers were appointed.

Very cold and professional that one. Bit like the Fred one.
Maybe they were cleaning the office today? 😂
Let's hope the couhigs promised him money in the summer and all the helps he need in order for him to walk out on col u so early

Welcome home Blooms. Welcome home.
Welcome home Matt, I know you will do a fantastic job and I am excited for the future with you at the helm.
COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!!!
Today is no time to start caring what Col U fans are on about
"CAUSE WE'VE GOT MATTY BLOOMIELD
AND SENDA'S NUMBER TWOOO"
Yep, it scans.

The development squad project, made it essential that we had some kind of in house knowledge and continuity.
Be interesting who Blooms number 2 will be ? Craig Makall Smith impressed me with his intelligence and the way he conducts himself.
Comment withdrawn, sorry I annoyed you all
I wonder what Bloomfield’s attitude is towards injury news.
I'd have maybe led with Ainsworth's departure, but I don't see any need for separate stories - especially when it's two people so entwined.
Having 2 huge events like this happening near simulatenously and turning stories out so quickly is stirling work I think.
Very hard to do either story full justice so quickly.
