There are plenty of coaches out there that have not been on the merry-go-round like most of the names on the list. Let's face it our best managers came from nowhere and our worst were 'names'. So I hope the owners don't get star struck when it comes down to the selection process.
I agree @WestLondonWanderer . He'd be a very interesting option. Made a great impact in this division last year with a squad which looked good but not stellar, by contrast with e.g. Ipswich having a stellar squad and underachieving relative to its quality. And that in difficult circumstances emerging from administration.
Is also not obsessed with playing the ball across his own penalty area like, say, Manning. I don't think we need that degree of puritanism.
But agree on geography. I think the furthest south he's come in his career is Nottingham and has generally been in the north west.
The Cowleys have always just seemed a PR machine to me. They did well at Lincoln, but with some money behind them, before failing at Huddersfield, and doing almost nothing at Portsmouth. They've created a hype around them which everyone seems to believe.
Oddly, I wouldn't mind Adkins. Although that might just be because I'd need to see a smiling face after these last few days.
One name that was always being linked to manager jobs along with Big Sam & Alan Pardew in the 2010's era was Alan Curbishley! If we are going through the older managers on the normal naming lists, why don't we consider him!
The list and odds for our next manager are obviously just pulled out of some intern's arse at this point. If there was any actual research behind them, Martin O'Neill would have to be right up at the top based on his interview comments yesterday, but he doesn't even feature.
Had a look at what Currie is up to these days as I had a vague memory of him doing ok at Barnet a while back. No real reason to suggest to he'd be up to a job here - although probably no better/worse a suggestion than Betsy - but interested to note he's currently Assistant Head Coach at Southend so may be looking for a new role somewhere shortly given their troubles of the other thread
Almost as accurate reporting as the BFP. Maybe this is where they get their 'sources' from. A bloke who put a fiver on Gareth to leave for QPR said.....
Last time I saw Cowley he was flapping his arms in the air after a dismal Pompey display whilst screaming ‘you cheating c&&&’ in Jordan Obita’s ear. Whinging bastard who comes across as cheeky Essex boy on TV but by all means a piece of work. He doesn’t fit the culture for me.

Unfortunately, you'd have to square that off with his character. Always comes across as prickly to say the least.

Ainsworth to Cotterrill is about as Martin O'Neill to Alan Smith move as it's possible to imagine
Adkins is an interesting shout if he's still in the managerial game
I agree it probably won't be a 'name' (well, maybe one to us if it's an ex-player like Betsy/Senda).
Dean Smith interesting thought if we avoid ex players/internal appointment.
Sam Allerdyce raised a giggle....

The ‘Inside R’ Twitter page reporting that Dobson will be following GA to QPR.
Andy Whing might be an interesting leftfield/under-the-radar option. Has done great things with Banbury Utd and still only 38.
Dobbo not wanting to leave sounded a huge deal breaker.
Now turns out he is a QPR fan! That'd be some statement if he still didn't want to leave wouldn't it!?

Confirmation to come today according to this, with Dobbo also heading to QPR.
Gary Meakin is available after five years at Beaconsfield Town. They are comfortable in mid-table, a surprise departure.

I wonder who’s taking training this morning. Sam Grace and the GK coach?
Bodger
Genuinely intrigued by the dislike of the Cowleys here? I could see them being pretty logical replacements.

I could also be tempted 😂
Maybe they've been told to wfh today
@micra!
Will Alfie take over as caretaker manager for our upcoming games should GA and Dobbo go today? Or will the club ask Martin to step in?
well, let’s hope there’s still time for the GA move to be “gaz”umped somehow
Certainly leaves us in a dilemma, no one at the club, with any senior managerial experience.

Lionel Richie
to be fair, Michael Nyman has been in charge of the Rs for a few days now.
