Was still awake at 4am angsting about the situation - haven't had my sleep disturbed by things going on at the club for a very long time. Now have the bubbly in the fridge ready to celebrate just in case Gaz and/or Dobbo are staying.
Unsurprising that this includes a point of reference about GA wanting to take Dobbo with him. I'm becoming worried now that the delay was to allow GA to persuade Dobbo to go with him and not to stay...
Whilst I'd love to cling on to some hope that it might not be over, I can also see the scenario from Dobbo's point of view - he is put into a fantastic negotiating position if everything comes down to him agreeing to move or not. Delay might just be him using this leverage to make sure he is approriately remunerated (both now and in a few months when it may have all gone to shit)
People talk about QPR burning through managers at an alarming rate, but they don't really. Beale walked, Warburton was there three years, McClaren a year, Holloway 18 months... They're no different to most clubs. It's not what we're used to, but it's a risk Gaz will have to take pretty much wherever he goes.
The key to it is of course Dobbo. Put yourself in his position…would you want to go? Moving to a basket case of a club after a long period of financial stability in his employment at Wycombe. Ok if Gaz moves without him, and he’s dumped after say 12 months, he would get the rest of his contract paid up. ( I can see QPR offering him 3 years. ) Would Dobbo be entitled to any compensation…and he of course would now be out of work.
So Ainsworth contemplates life at QPR without his football soul mate and back up, colliding with the likes of Les Ferdinand etc. It would be a lonely gig.
Therefore the outcome I can see is Gaz staying with increased pay for both him and Dobbo and yes, QPR can do one!!!
No, @MBS. That’s a quote from the infamous Bucks Free Press. Rather than “would” - ie recognising that any move still awaited official confirmation, the ‘journalist’ chose (?) to scare the living daylights out of us by saying “will”.
I don't think there's any hope of Dobbo staying if GA goes. Purely because I just can't see GA going without him. He's been completely honest about what Dobbo brings to the party in terms of tactics, man-management and player development - it'd be an almighty risk for GA to step into any new role (let alone the challenges at QPR) unarmed with those skills.
If Dobbo really is digging his heels in then the whole thing will fall through and GA will continue here. Others above have already speculated on what that would mean for their working relationship longer term though. In reality its most likely they will both be leaving today.
Yes, sadly, both leaving today is the most likely outcome. It will take a long time to get used to GA not being around given his presence and personality during the past ten years. And no little success and the number of memorable occasions.
Desperately sad to GA leave, as I am, the one thing I am quite enjoying is the Kremlinology around what happens next and who takes over etc. We haven't experienced that for so long I have almost forgotten what it's like. Let's just hope we can avoid it becoming a regular pattern again.
As much as I want both of them to stay I'm interested to see what they could achieve there. Getting buy in from players won't be easy but if they get it right the Prem isn't far and the sky is the limit, not just for on field but if Dobbo allowed to subtly help the youth setup along they could be setup for years to come.
This could be the start of an exciting new period at the club or an absolute car crash. Like one of the earlier posts I’m quite excited at what is playing out behind the scenes and as long as those PE teachers from Essex don’t enter the frame I’m looking to the future.
Gaz has cemented legendary status it was always going to end sometime. Glad it’s on a high.
If worse comes to worse and Dobbo goes with GA, Leam Richardson would be an interesting option. His Wigan team were comfortably the best team I saw us play last season. Whether he would be keen on a move down south though who knows.
Off that list I don’t actually have a problem with Cotterill, I’ll always appreciate the phenomenal job he did in very difficult circumstances at Forest and is certainly punching with Shrewsbury

Almost 24h since the club last tweeted

Yes, this is from the QPR forum

the silence is deafening. The colossus tweet hanging in the air doesn't appear to just be a reference to big Forino!

It's close https://twitter.com/footballdaily/status/1627970506136625153?t=grmQwEHSpp4fyHeRzJGekw&s=19
The young lady missed a trick there. 7 years at QPR, yes but, almost as newsworthy, the match on Saturday is against his boyhood club.

Apologies @MBS. Quick read and teary eyes. Not your quote and it’s irony from Tom in any case. Doh !
The media tend to use the terms interchangeably, but it'll be interested to see if he's named manager or head coach.

Why wouldn't you want the Cowleys? I'm coming around to the idea.
We should get Rhino back into the club in some capacity. A Wycombe legend, really understands the club and is a real people person.
I had no idea they were so unpopular!
Personally and from other information I’ve been told I don’t think Gaz or Dobbo will be leaving.
2 most recent jobs failures, one at this level with bigger resources?
I know this is bullshit but for what it is worth current bookies odds on our next manager

Cottrill odd one to be "favourite" (at time of writing) given he is in work. Not sure where that one came from.
Some amazing names on the list....
Can @thecatwwfc give us any timeline for today? Because I really *should* do some work eventually.
Most managers fail at one point or another. We'd suit them better than most clubs, although I do think we'd be too small for them.
Hell no
