A fair point - I just feel the reason we would make an internal (or someone connected to the club) appointment is for different reasons than other clubs. If Club Culture was a contest, we would be top of the PL.
It is strange - this is such an epic era, but if GA goes and we miss out on playoffs/promotion, it will be three years in a row with massive what-ifs:
20/21: Relegated by one point, no crowds, and Derby's punishment delayed.
21/22: Bad run takes us out of auto contention, Mehmeti is injured, and we come out flat for Wembley final.
22/23: Horrible injuries put us down early, and then GA leaves right when we are hitting our stride.
This will always be an incredible part of history, but the amazing overachievement is also tinged with a fair amount of tragedy (using that word purely in sporting terms, of course).
If Ainsworth does go i somehow hope we can hold onto Dobbo that would be great. However in all likelihood he goes with Gaz id like to give Liam Manning a go.
I wouldn't class almost getting automatically promoted as doing crap. He's an excellent coach, but I think he's probably too ambitious to be interested. Would like a possession-based coach, though.
I hold no grudge with Gareth wanting to go but the timing to QPR when even their fans don't want him to join knowing what will happen is a red flag surely. It will end in tears, I hope not, but I think we all know it will. In this mad world of football GA could probably ask for a 3-year contract on x the wage he is on now, get sacked in 3 months and get a full payout. Who could turn that down?
So looking forward. I assume that Dobbo and possibly Sam Grace might go too. Possibly even Josh who GA values highly. So it is an empty management picture. I would like to see MoN come in on a contract til the end of the season and then use the senior squad members and maybe someone he trusts to make up the picture. At the end of the season we review. Personally I think if GA goes so does the play-offs. So it is a short term transition solution to let everyone take stock. Appointing an Alan Smith figure who wants to put their own identity on a squad at day one would be a disaster. I also hope Blooms doesn't get it, he needs to cut his teeth elsewhere and not be a mini-me GA. No one can be GA. We need Blooms to find his style and that won't have happened yet. Plenty of good coaches that have not been on the merry go round out there and that is who we need for the longer term.
Are any of Solksjær's old coaches from Man Utd still unattached? Carrick and McKenna both seem to have blossomed as managers in their own right. Maybe Wycombe can go 3 for 3.
Woodman at Bromley has got them punching well above their weight. 7th in a league of ex-EFL clubs and sugar daddy owners. Bromley are neither of those but also have an FA Trophy to their name too, beating Wrexham in the final last year.
Am I the only one who thinks GA will be absolutely excellent for QPR? They are on a forced low budget with a talented squad (leading the division at one point) that is low on morale. I used to think he would need too much time to get an ethos in place, but after seeing Blooms at Colchester, I think Gareth would keep QPR up and then get them properly pumped up for the new season with a few ex-Wycombe players sprinkled in the mix.
He is an absolutely brilliant manager, period, and perhaps going to QPR is going to be the catalyst for this being realized more universally.
If you really fancy a gamble, there's Nathan Rooney who's young and highly rated, having gone to Bruno's Magpies in Gibraltar and got them to 3rd place and a cup final in his first season while nearly getting them through Q1 of the ECL at the first attempt. Has managed to attract some decent players to the club for their level like keeper Jaylan Hankins from Cordoba CF, and former Ghana internationals Rahim Ayew and Emanuel Ocran.
Says he sees Graham Potter ad the lad at Reims as an influence.

When we tack on Bayo, Blooms and Stewart in the past season and summer gone too, it really has been quite a drastic transition!

Probably the only appointment that would alleviate the total gloom.
The scenes if O'Neill took us up and we had the Legendary Wycombe Manager derby with QPR next season!
The one where Hayes threw his little ultimatum in and killed any chance we had of staying up from day 1?
O Neill coming back would be pure nostalgia injected directly into the bloodstream.
Does anyone know what kind of relationship he has with the Couhigs? Hopefully a good one!

Maye it's just me, but why do people keep mentioning Liam Manning ? Has had one management job in England, did crap and got the sack !?
Alfie as an assistant/ftc would be good too as he can be the go-between for the new boss and the players.

Agreed.
MON would be fantastic maybe with JJ as assistant player manager to learn the ropes. That would be a real dream team.
Anyone know much about the National League and coaches down there ready for their first League job?

Talksport reporting that QPR have made an official approach to Charlton for Dean Holden
Go on Dean

2005-06?
They're also reporting that it's still expected to be Gaz
Wishing Dean the very best 👍
Wait… what?

Perhaps Ainsworth has turned them down .
Don’t say it. Don’t even think it.
