Tyson, he was just such quality above the tier we were in and that was a sad exit.
Williamson too. Just outrageously too good for the division as well.
Mickey Bell's exit I just remember utterly killing the optimism for that coming season. He was really classy as a wing back, not the best defender, not the best winger, but superb at wing back. Taking him away, for again a disgustingly low tribunal fee, and then watching them sell Barnard in the same position for about 5 times the money was a sickener.
Fused with all Bell's big talk about "ambition", yet going to a club in the same division, and subsequently only playing ONE season out of his EIGHT at Bristol Rovers in the second tier. Still, no doubt he trousered a lot more wad.
So actually erm, can I put Bell at the top then!
Old greats retiring is of course always sad. Carroll, Ryan, Brown and Bayo, but you knew it was time, and you'd had a long time with them, so it was acceptable.
Cousins was worse in a way as I think he went off injured in his last game after some customary bravery, and then never played again, released due to the emergence of Roger Johnson.
I was thinking probably Morgan. I always think of this when answering the FourFourTwo season preview question along the lines of 'Which player would you gladly drive to another club?' - and it's been no one for the best part of a decade (whereas fans of most other clubs seem to always have one) I think that's the ultimate compliment to Gaz and Dobbo.
To answer the original thread question, probably Luke O’Nien for me, made worse a few years later when the Netflix show came on and we saw that he’d gone for a tiny amount.
Same with Scowen, Barnsley always felt like not enough of a step up for him to justify the move, although I was proud to see him go to QPR and dominate there for a few years.
I liked Dean Morgan. For quite a while he was the reason that made watching Wycombe bearable. The kids in the family stand loved him, and he always stayed and signed every single one of their autograph requests.
Met him in town once and he made time to chat about Wycombe and football, was a really nice bloke.
Absolutely no idea why some fans had it in for him, and some of the other players mentioned. It's a real mystery. Is there anything that connects them I wonder?
He got a better offer because he refused to play for the club. He was such a fan favourite the season before that, and it was so depressing to see how he forced the move.

He was one of a great crop of youngsters that pretty much all went for fees I think.
He did have a little spell of trying to be a tough guy on the pitch if I remember correctly, wellying into players unnecessary, couple of reds?

I really enjoyed watching Dean Morgan, such a waste of talent as he should have gone much higher up the pyramid.
Marvin McCoy, Junior Morais and Lee Angol all got sucked into that gang. Some decent footballers led astray by poor attitude.
Leon Knight was a fair time before Dean Morgan, but certainly one that would not even get in the door these days.

George Borg to Dartford was a heart breaker, made even worse when Terry Glynn teamed up with him 6 months later.

I can remember vividly going through the top turnstile by the Loakes Park gates, when a club stalwart approached me with the awful news.
I remember feeling physically sick, a player we had come to adore and carried our hopes and dreams, snatched by Fatty Fry.

I don’t think I have ever got over Steve Guppy leaving. Watching Wycombe Wanderers has never been the same since.
