The re-seating of Family Stand ST holders seemed to work ok in the end, even though the club had two attempts at explaining where we could sit - and still got it wrong! Red stickers, white stickers, who should or shouldn't sit in the seats with stickers ...
Lots of managers and forum posters seem to think that being able to knock the ball around under no pressure 40 yards from goal equals ‘being the better team.’
Absolutely astonishing comment from a professional that has just lost 2-0.
I thought we were excellent last night. Superb hassling in midfield and potent in attack. That’s the sort of football we were playing at the end of last season, which saw us find a run of form to get in the play-offs.
I say this most weeks but Josh Scowen is absolutely bloody superb. Perhaps the best central midfielder we’ve ever had. Although I thought the whole starting 11 last night had a strong game.
A couple of minor observations:
Hanlan got caught out a couple of times by a runner getting behind on his inside. Thankfully it never came to anything but something to work on.
We really, really need to focus on accuracy of long kicks to Vokes. His flick headers are very consistently directed into dangerous areas when we hit him with diagonals/goal kicks. Exemplified perfectly by the second goal last night. It is something we seem to have struggled with slightly this season.
Overall maybe but they use to trot this kind of line out after games every time they got beat by a Bolton corner, a stoke throw-in or similar accusing them of footballing crimes and taking zero responsibility for bad defending. Fairly sure that was where all this crap started and flowed through the likes of Plymouth.
I haven’t met anyone under the age of forty with nice handwriting. Very few under twenty can even hold a pen properly. They would all argue there is no need anymore. Just like folk on another thread no longer carrying cash.
My hand always shakes if someone’s watching me sign. Dreaded having to write cheques in front of anyone. I think it’s because everyone else in the world (including the King) seems to sign in a flash.
Seriously though, I can understand why youngsters like @ReturnToSenda struggle with handwriting. They rarely need to resort to it. In fact, the vast majority of the population (bar those practicing calligraphy) don’t need to.
Apparently I hold a pen like a left-handed person, despite being very much right-handed... But these days, all that really matters is that you can read your own writing - who else is going to need to read it?
Comments
If we ever lost Ainsworth and/or Dobbo, should we consider Senda?
I could have a go, but I've only got Football Manager experience.
Yesterday was, without doubt, Ainsworth’s finest tactical plan of the season
We've had worse

"We were the better team"; "we controlled the game"; "two sloppy goals".
And this is why we'll continue to keep beating Poxford.
Try "we were outplayed" and have a bit of dignity.
Keeping possession in unthreatening positions ≠ controlling the game.
Looking on their forum, the PNL fans seem to find those comments pretty embarrassing too, in fairness.

Even my game going mate mentioned the "good football" Oxford play, when to me it looked utterly ineffectual in the main.
These teams and fans trying to claim some sort of moral victory is always bizarre.
The Wenger Arsenal lot were probably the most high profile example of it.

It appears that Robinson believes Poxford controlled the game for all bar about 20 seconds - in two 10 second spells.
It's such a shame for them that in each of those 10 seconds we scored a goal.
Football is so unfair ...

You mean the team known as The Invincibles thanks to winning the league without losing a single game? Sounds kinda, I dunno, effective?

It must be an easy gig being one of Robinson's kids: bring home an F grade but get patted on the head because you have nice handwriting.
Ahhhh, I totally misunderstood @Malone's comment. That makes sense.
There will come a time in May when everyone will claim to have been on it from the start of its journey
I will never claim that - there are times this season I thought we were more likely to go down than up.
That being said, I will happily buy you a beer at Fratton Park for your incredible early belief, if we get in the playoffs that day!
Nonsense, I'll buy you one

Whole worlds gone mad.
I'm 28 and I'm genuinely convinced I've gradually lost the ability to write by hand since leaving school
I get cramp in my hand just signing my name these days.
I could have put "latter years" Wenger team in to help you out too.
The peak Wenger Arsenal teams were not only supreme footballers, but had a real physical steel to them.

Sorry, who started this digression ? Surely not @perfidious_albion.
There is a joke there somewhere @drcongo 😉
I'm pretty old now but I defo have "doctors handwriting"
Less pay though
Which doesn't seem fair

Which is all fine until someone passes round a birthday card at work, and you almost ruin it, and look like a moron, apparently....

A somewhat more balanced view - interesting to hear them pick about Robinson’s comments. His interview with BBC Oxford was just as enjoyable.
