My mind boggles that someone could conclude that him saying the n-word isn’t consciously racist.
But my point was that the Guardian are reporting that the commission exceeded the terms under which they were supposed to operate - which suggests to me that they weren’t asked to conclude on whether he was consciously racist or not, and that their opinion on this shouldn’t have influenced the outcome.
The former Crawley manager John Yems believes he is “owed an apology” despite having committed 12 aggravated breaches of Football Association rules on discrimination.
Oh John. You could have said 'Please forgive an old man who spoke out of turn' and walked away with some shred of dignity intact but, no, you've decided to demand an apology and drop big hints that the players only complained about you after you decided not to renew their contracts.
Just as an indication of the gap between the haves and have nots even at League 1 level - Ipswich are reported to have made their second seven figure incoming transfer of the week yesterday, Harry Clarke from Arsenal who has been starting most weeks in the Championship this season on loan.
I’ve never been too keen on Chelsea for various reasons, not least because mrs micra went there about 12 years ago with half a dozen others to collect for a locally (Prestwood) based charity. She had collected many times in and around Wycombe for that charity but mainly for Scannappeal and she said she had never experienced so many people avoiding eye contact, including the lovely David Mellor.
I was surprised therefore to find myself wanting Chelsea to break the deadlock this afternoon at Anfield. I tried to rationalise it and decided that it was because of the presence of Graham Potter, Connor Gallagher (who I came to admire playing for Crystal Palace when I was really looking out for Eze) and a close namesake of Luca Modric who controlled midfield for Spurs and Croatia, of course. Can’t spell the latter’s name but I believe (unbelievably!) that he has signed an eight year contract. Did I mishear that?
Had the same argument with someone recently, Chelsea would argue that they are not "avoiding" it at all, but are actually doing it the way they are to "comply" with it.
It would be astounding if Everton went down. I am 44, and have never seen them in the second tier. I think they have only spent something like four seasons outside the top flight in their history.
This would be the best story possible:
1. Beat Plymouth in playoff semis.
2. Beat Derby in the final.
3. Beat Everton on the opening day of the Championship.
Blackburn have just drawn for the first time this season, in their 28th game - they were two games away from breaking the post-war record. They're still 4th, despite losing as many games as the side second bottom.

No insinuation.
John Yems is a nasty racist. There's your conclusion.

Done deal apparently

He's not doing himself any favours, is he.
What a complete and utter knob.

Mousinho as Portsmouth manager a done deal:

They can't be happy with that
Good luck to him
'I thought we were getting MouRinho!'

Seen an absolute cracker of a goal from 22 year old Albanian winger Xhelal Terziqi tonight
The irony of Burnley being sponsored by ‘Classic Football Shirts,’ while wearing that monstrosity.
I rate it - I think the sponsor, while a good company, ruins it
Neither West Ham nor Everton have any idea what to do when they get the ball, apart from slowly working their way back to their own goal.
Never seen anything like it.

@micra the long term contracts are Chelsea’s way of avoiding financial fair play.
West Ham looked ok to me in the 2 goals they just scored.
Had the same argument with someone recently, Chelsea would argue that they are not "avoiding" it at all, but are actually doing it the way they are to "comply" with it.
Aye, they woke up a bit when they realized Everton had no idea what they were doing. First 30 minutes were like a slow motion car crash.
What is the arithmetical basis of FFP in this context ?
Is the transfer fee/salary divided by the number of years covered by the contract ?
Does having 20 players out on loan help in the context of FFP ?
Why does the Gasroom automatically start a word with a capital letter after a full-stop except at the start of a new paragraph ?
how can I watch West Ham v Everton or vice versa at this time on a Saturday afternoon. Just jealous.

No good sending answers on a postcard.
@micra no idea how length of contracts makes a difference. Probably a question for our friends from Derby.
Not quite @LX1’s LMAO but I like that a lot. It’s easy to forget just how much they got away with. Urrrrgh.
Everton are tragically bad. That new stadium will be the best in the Championship, though.

They didn't get away with anything. They were punished for their offences.
Well, Floyd is in the USA so will have easy access via a tv station.
Over here, internet search. Allegedly.
