And therein lies his problem, if you can call it that. His best performances always come off the bench.
He's a great player to have in the squad, who has shown versatility and commitment in abundance. I'd love him to crack on but if that's going to happen it needs to be sooner rather than later as these should be his peak years.
He's a good squad player. But we've always had better options in the positions he can play.
I'm not sure he'd get more of a regular game elsewhere in league 1, and it's hard to argue that he's not having a successful career, cutting it at league 1 level from his non league beginnings.
Without wanting to be too disrespectful, as I like him, but Freeman is a League 2 starter at best. He has flashes of quality for us off the bench but has never delivered for us in a significant role consistently. I'd much rather keep him around as a useful player for us on the bench though. He has qualities that many other Wycombe players do not share.
People have such short memories. At the start of last season, until the ACL injury as a result of a horrendous challenge, he was starting games and performing superbly as a right sided wingback who could certainly put in a decent cross.
Freeman has already scored two excellent goals this season. I would suggest that if he had started as many games as Anis or GMac in their position he wouldn’t be too far behind
Indeed, ReturnToSenda recently looked up his goal involvements per 90 for me and it was impressive given that he spent a number of games playing defensive mid.

And generally picking a good pass.
It was only one person though, @Malone. Mrs Freeman perhaps 🤔?

I find “League 2 starter at best” unnecessarily and unjustifiably dismissive.

Indeed @micra, he was putting in some very good performances. Could add this to the "What if moments" thread.
