Uche is a no for me. Loved his enthusiasm and he had a couple of games where he was unplayable. But with the exception of a handful of games for us where he looked very decent he has not settled in anywhere. An expensive gamble we can ill afford IMHO
He’s 27 and can’t have started more than 20 games since leaving us nearly two years ago. Prior to us, he’d score five goals in 40 games for Hearts. He’s also had issues staying consistently match fit. There’s no chance he can achieve Championship wages any more in my opinion.
However, I do agree with those that suggest we’ve evolved a bit and it would be more challenging to fit him into our more recent style.
He's a bit different, if Mehmeti was to go I can see us becoming pretty predictable, Also Vokes hasn't contributed a great deal recently, think we'd be silly to pass up the chance if it presented at much reduced wages, not sure it will though, has he been out of favour already or just affected by World Cup / Winter break / Injury?
I liked Uche, but I can’t see us needing both him and Hanlan - bustling forwards that can run at and scare defenders, but aren’t much cop in the air and need balls to feet.
I would say Uche’s finishing is better than Hanlan’s, but given that we often haven’t really played to Hanlan’s strengths I’d say we’d have the same problems with Uche - remembering the considerable time it took to sort out a playing style that got the best of him.
agreed @floyd . And if we'd had him in a season when fans were allowed in, we'd have worked up an immensely popular terrace song to the tune of Itchycoo Park.
At 21 he might be a bit old but I've been watching most Gibraltar Football League games this season and Europa FC's Spanish winger Sergio Rivera seems a level above everyone at times and has scored several cracking goals. 7 goals in 11 games (inc today's in-progress game he scored in). Could be worth a look at anyway. Tjay came from there.
At school, it was often the case where you'd have that lad that was good at everything. The lad in question played for the same semi pro team as me. He was our best centre half, best midfielder and in training was better than our first choice keeper.
I wonder if there are any players in pro football like that!?
https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/1054id1/europa_10_lynx_sergio_rivera_29_gibraltar/ This was the goal he scored last night. Don't have videos of this other goals to hand, they'll be on the GFA YouTube channel though as all their matches are streamed there. Considering they signed him from a Spanish 5th tier side he's settled in quite nicely in the league. Seems to be a big fan of cutting in from the right and smashing the ball in with his left foot.

I loved Uche, it's a real shame he never got to play in front of a crowd. I think he'd have been idolised.
Unstoppable on his day, I'd love to have him back
Ps it's hardly a "clamour"!

I watched part 1 last night and part 2 is on tonight in my house so looking forward to them covering the topic of transfers.

If I had to pick either as our 9 going forward it would be Hanlan. Loved Uche, but Hanlan has more flexibility as to where he can play.
If we’d had Uche for a full season in the Championship we’d have stayed up. I’d love to have him back

"He's all too beautiful."
I agree. I can't see how he would fit in with Vokes.
We did but he was unfit for a sizeable part, which has been problematic in his career.
I'd take a striker missing 1 game in 4 if he's banging them in 3 games in 4!
To put it another way, I’d still sign Sean Devine even if I knew he was going to be out for 18 months at some point in the future.
Uche's Career has his average approx 1 goal every 5 1/2 games.
But in the unlikely event he stayed fit for a season that would be between 8 and 9 goals.
And for a player whose style doesn't involve many assists, it's not much of a return.

This is the sort of niche scouting I can get behind
Would be pretty daft not to with the amount of subs you're allowed?
I'd have Ikpeazu in a heartbeat, made things happen from nothing and like @floyd said we would of stayed up if he was available the full season.

If Max got injured I’d play David Wheeler in goal.
I reckon Mawson would be a good keeper
Scores bangers, most of which seemed to be totally against the run of play, invaluable in a team that doesn't dominate possession.
Ikpeazu......been there, done that

What a bizarre post.
We had a 6month taster of it and he was so brilliant he went for huge money.
For his performances in a division above where we are now!
If the wages rule it out, yes that's one thing..but not on ability.
Agree.
How many huge successes did we have in the championship season?
Yet people wouldn't take him in league 1. Amazing.
Good luck to Daryl Horgan for his Stevenage debut and hope he is a massive success during his loan. 👍👍
I don't think he should be the focal point, but I'd snap both your hands off to have him back.
(Puts hands behind back carefully while sidling away slowly)
