To be honest I thought he was already doing this.

Like the first comment on that link says, didn't he return a while back?
I’m glad he’s involved at the club. While I understand from people that have worked with him in a business capacity, and some rumours when chairman (iirc), suggest he can be a bit of a “difficult” person to deal with he seems to be so because of his singular focus in getting the best deals.
i have wondered earlier in the season if he was still with the club in some capacity as I thought it would be a loss to the club if he wasn’t, so it’s good to hear he has committed/recommitted with us.
If you squint we've signed Sean Dyche.
What happened to the guy we got from Crystal Palace? Phil Alexander?

What happened to Mark Palmer?
Sounds like his role is more off field business activities.
I always liked him when he was at the supporter meetings. To the point. Unapologetic. Passionate. If he can add some good business sense to the madness of transfers and recruitment then I’m all for it.
I also enjoyed his little amateur dramatics when announcing the permanent signing of Dom Gape.
Think @glasshalffull said he was acting CEO or C.O.O (operations) in which case maybe Andrew Howard is now a football advisor to both him and Rob. Very tricky to work out who does what and whether all or none of it is paid. Good people to have about anyway it would seem, I was just a little concerned when talk was of Pete mainly working on the football side as he is hardly an expert or experienced in doing so. As long as Gareth is happy through what could potentially be a very important January it's all good.
In-tray should include budget (are we trimming or going for it? Or somewhere in between), Is it inevitable some wil leave (what's a reasonable fee and a reasonable size / calibre of squad / do we think some of those on the fringes are reasonable long term bets) and what do we do with the £ if it does come in. First couple questions really Robs choice on the basis of what he hears from the manager and various advisers, others for the boss man.
I'm looking forward to seeing Brizzle Rovers bid for some if the players they wouldn't ever want.
With the Transfer window about to open, I would imagine this may have a major bearing on Howard's latest reappointment. We failed to get a number of targets over the line in the summer, coupled with the goal keeping farce. Whether it was Pete Couhigs inexperience, unavailability or sulking that the Trust wouldn't hand over the ground that played a part in these issues ?
To say Andrew Howard isn't 'everyone's cup of tea' is a huge understatement, but he is clearly very good at negotiating and thrashing out deals. So it's safe to say we're in a far better place heading into this window.
No complaints on the club side of things as he obviously does well for the club. But if you saw how he treats his workers you certainly wouldn't be calling him a nice bloke.
No different to the likes of Mike Ashley or Alan Sugar. You have to be ruthless nowadays to be a highly successful businessman.
Totally agree , he has been brought onboard to oversee this transfer window. I expect there to be enquiries about one or two of our players especially Mehmeti. If we decide to sell, we need to ensure the best possible price and Howard is far more experienced than Pete Couhig. Also if we decide to buy or loan players for the second half of the season, we need Howard’s experience. Excellent appointment.
He's leaving... just announced
Don't last long around here do they ?
He’s off to Bristol City. He made life very difficult for the off field staff during his short tenure.
Good practice for them with Howard back in the stadium.
He was only announced as a short term advisor and if we'd brought in a supposedly first class player from Palace we wouldn't be surprised if he got a better offer.
Not sure the stated job title is quite what he was doing though or that AH is a direct replacement from what others have said.
Does have the appearance of being a bit short term or just having what is available now though with the Couhigs abroad, with really big ambitious plans on and off the pitch they do need some leadership and stability.
Sounds like Mark Palmer all over again
His legacy will be ...
Hypothetically, if Bristol City wanted to sign Anis Mehmeti next month then it would be very beneficial for them to have someone with inside knowledge the state of our club, our finances and what we would be likely to accept.
I'm sure that won't happen though, as that would make us look really stupid.
Don’t really know anything about him tbh, can you or anybody else elaborate?
I’d be amazed if they could. They’ve made c£30m losses for three seasons in a row. Very close to breaking FFP rules.
Brizzle city have had owners pumping in eye wateringly huge sums of money in for many years now , decent crowds and stadium but generally hopeless when anywhere near playoffs and now a bit dull on the pitch under the charming Pearson. If Phil Alexander or anyone can help them stem the wastage and maybe help them nearer the Prem that is a huge job and he'll be well rewarded. Lower league gems probably are in their shopping area if he doesn't have the sort of clauses to rule that sort of thing out, although he won't be the only prospect out there and city have bigger issues to worry about over the next few years.
Would have been much funnier if he had gone to Bristol Rovers.
Amazing how little credit the Couhigs seem to have built up with some people.
I’m sure there’s a whole book to be written about what did and didn’t happen in the summer, but hopefully AH can give us some extra nous in the transfer market.
Agree, although somewhat self inflicted with earlier statements, interesting now that "within 6 points of the playoffs" was always the plan for now, not sure that is what they were saying at the time.
I never saw the problem with that either. *of course* we’re aiming for promotion.
Yeah, nothings guaranteed in football, would be pretty dull if it was.
Bit of a cop out on my part this, but all I am willing to elaborate on is that his management style was more stick than carrot, despite the public protestations of creating a team building culture that would benefit from his top flight experience.
My understanding there is a little different, don’t think the owners felt they were getting value out of his advisory engagement in the run in to the purchase.
The Wycombe Swans debacle was his ‘initiative’ by the way which the Couhigs certainly did not appreciate being associated with.
Wycombe Swans? I don't remember this.
Neither do I ?
