Fantastic result. Wheeler the pick of the bunch for me - he seemed to make countless blocks and interceptions and played with intelligence all game.
Ipswich clearly have some dangerous players and on another day might have taken one or two of their chances. Too often they were wasteful with the final ball or shot on goal though. Their 29 was a prime example of this, causing some real problems with his footwork but then pinging crosses out of play.
Because he rolled a mis-hit bobbly pass into the feet of what was supposed to be for Hanlan but looked more likely to go to their defender, 40 yards away from the goal. Hanlan did the rest.
I suppose what you are implying with that response is that you thought he put it on a plate for Hanlan and were surprised Hanlan didn't wheel away pointing at Wheeler - "that was all you mate, cheers".
My point is nothing aimed at Wheeler, just the stat itself. It's bloody ridiculous that it gets acknowledged in the way it does,
Just watched it again (I clearly didn't watch it properly the first time) and it comes off at least one Ipswich player then back to Hanlan, so no assist
I don’t understand the registration point but I do know that Jasper Pattenden mentioned on commentary - at which he is brilliant, incidentally - that Curtis went into a crunching tackle on him in training so I think it’s safe to assume that he’ll be on the bench very soon.
It’s almost the case that being able to call on at least one of Scowen, Thompson and Gape for the rest of the season is key to whether we’re in contention for a third time “lucky” shot at promotion to the Championship.
Not 100% if they ever called it out or published a list but I think that is right, with limited squad numbers and limited chance of him playing before then it would make sense.
But yes, good to have them available, Wing, Freeman, Horgan and others are nice passers and freeman does have that ability to calm a game at times with a clever turn or pass, and Wheels is doing great but sometimes we do get overrun for periods if it's only Josh in there or if he is unavailable.
I know both home and opposition fans talk about the access issues to AP, but that's the first time I've seen someone wish we would go bust because of it! Stay classy, Ipswich curmudgeon.
I heard an Ipswich fan arguing almost the same point with a WWFC fan down Hillbottom road after the game. Only one road access mumble mumble, shit team mumble mumble, poor home support mumble mumble, small town team mumble mumble, forgetting the most important fact . . . Ipswich lost! 😂
Think there’s a difference between player registration and which club they are at, and a squad registration. I.e which of the players registered at a club we then registered as being in the first team squad
He is registered with the club, just not included in the squad we have to submit to the EFL for first team matches. Although I seem to remember we only took up 21 of our 22 squad places so could probably add him if fit.
We get to revise the squad shortly (in the transfer window) anyway so it’s probably academic.
@Theatre_of_Chairs is quite right. You can add players at any time up to 22 players but once you get to 22 that is (except in exceptional circumstances) fixed. We registered 21 so unless we added a 22nd player after September we could add him to the squad for the Bristol and Plymouth games.
More likely he will not be fit until Peterborough or beyond by which time the September squad list is defunct.
Excellent win against the top of the table team. I thought it was a very even first half and we competed brilliantly.
Second half we offered very little going forwards but were magnificent in defence. This may not work all the time but yesterday it did and we have the three points.
Grimmer was superb yesterday, was really worried when the teams were released without Tafazolli.
7th at Xmas, vastly improved with Scowen back bossing the midfield, only 4 points off 4th. Some huge games coming up with Bristol Rovers unbeaten in 5.
After that Plymouth, Peterborough, Sheff Weds, Rovers again and Oxford to follow. Massive Xmas and New Year. Hopefully we will be in the mix come end of Jan as on paper that is a tough run of games.
Weird day yesterday. A good three points but a strange muted mood particularly in the FA which was a shit show of epic proportions. Having moved form our ST seats, the torrents of water soaking large swathes of seating and having to make entire rows stand up to get past as we couldn't use the entrance in block n.
PLEASE DON'T GIVE AWAY OUR FA AGAIN.
I was talking to one of the response team and he mentioned they were thinking of doing the same when Derby come to town..... Would be madness imho.
As for the game, first half was good and we played well but with Ipswich looking pretty fluid at times. Beautiful well taken goal. Second ha!f was predictable and although it's ugly and grey hair inducing to watch it was a magnificent defensive display. Lovely three points and 7th before chrimbo, lovely job.
Roll oh Boxing Day and three points against the horse punchers.
Apparently the money generated from yesterday's sales to Ipswich in the FA is going to be used to re-generate some of the kiosks up there that are in bad need of updating.
It didn't seem to cause many problems yesterday that I'm aware of. Except for STHs being moved which should and could have been addressed before they bought tickets for the season.
I'm really not sure it is a good idea for Derby given the recent ongoings between the two clubs.

Think they didn't register him so January earliest but back in training
Hard to remember a time when we were under such pressure, and I felt no worry about their attack
Ahhh didn’t see that. Feel so sorry for the guy. Clearly v talented just can’t catch a break. To have him and Horgan gathering dust is incredible.

Where does it go down as an assist?
I note on the fotmob app no assister was given for example.
That's Opta data, so it must not have counted. I need to look at that.
It must have taken another touch off someone somewhere

In which case....my bad and apologies
Ipswich not impressed with facilities it seems.
We didn't register Curtis in our squad at the start of the season and to my understanding can only re-register players in January.
Thanks @thecatwwfc. Not long to wait.

Yep ... wow.... classy comments there!!!
They are just upset...
Lost 1-0 on their big day out eh?!! 😅
Erm ...
Surely that's not right as we could register a free agent at any time - squad numbers permitting.
If Curtis is indeed unregistered then why can't we register him at any time?
I think it will depend on whether we have any spare squad places.
When I went to Ipswich I thought their facilities were pretty shit
Since he’s not a free agent I’m assuming we can only register him during the window.
How 's he not a free agent is he isn't registered with any club? Not arguing just curious. 🤔

Surely that isn't in any way a "light show" and more just the flood lights being turned on / warming up?!
And any moans from Ipswich about an awkward to get to ground are a bit ironic surely?
Not exactly the easiest bit of the country for most clubs to get to themselves?!
