Not only is our current form disappointing but it’s affecting gate numbers. So much so, there’s no money. Catering staff not paid, security not paid, and not returning till the end of November. Seems there are concerns all over!.
But if it is true, that is quite simply astonishing. I would’ve anticipated financial problems in 2-3 years (given our wage bill) unless we took significant action. But surely not right now given the fortunate extenuating circumstances (multiple playoff runs, championship parachutes, Derby payout, Covid insurance etc)
Price of Football published our accounts for the 20/21 season recently and stated we had approx £3.6 m in the bank. Would take some serious work to get through all that even with a few high earners signed up, surely?
Pretty easy to prove or disprove, since without a security team we'll be denied a safety certificate, and without a safety certificate we can't host games at AP.
Thankfully the Trust and the Couhigs have much better things to do than address every harebrained rumour on the Gasroom.
During the month routine bank transfer went awry in Football Club and we assisted them with £19k which was paid back by 8th September 2022 according to Trust website.
It'll be interesting to see the most recent figures and, by now, it will be obvious that making a football club sustainable is not easy.
Unless the Couhigs have taken out what they initially gave the club to secure ownership (paying off >£1m debt), then I completely agree with you. It would take some doing to spend our way through that so quickly. You would like to assume that payment for the floodlights, ground renovation (Turnbull gantry etc) is across multiple years.

I know Pete is now back in the States but before we seem to have an update every week on what was happening now, plans for the future etc. Also what has happened to the guy who was helping Rob, develop everything in the club to get us ready for the Championship. I may have missed some things hes done or recommended. Again pretty quiet.
It does seem like there has been a change of tack in some areas. From the perspective of someone living overseas, I notice the worldwide phenomenon seems to have been largely dropped as a point of emphasis. The proposed US Tour never went ahead either.
I have heard that the monthly season ticket system has had an impact on finances. Maybe in the long term it will work but on introduction in the summer this has left a short full of larger amounts of cash as many elected to spread their payments .
It is an awful look - and this is the one thing that could never really be stamped out, because it is impossible to prove someone is not injured. Unless they had to leave the field and have a temporary sub?
It was no doubt devised as a way of tying in those who wouldn't have committed to a season ticket previously, but probably has ended up being utilised by those who would have paid upfront anyway.
Therefore costing us a big chunk of that usual up front money.
I'm sure Rob Couhig quoted either the percentage or the amount of people who had taken it up. Maybe someone remembers or can find the quote?
It is pretty dreadful reading it like that. Even worse than we all suspected.
It's funny, I watched someone doing the classic "laces tie" time waste maneuverer at the game yesterday, and actually thought, I'm surprised players don't come out in years to come and admit a certain manager had specifically targeted this sort of gamesmanship.
Then literally the next day I see that Stockdale article doing just that!
Against Morecombe I counted Forino tying his boots six times on the pitch (it wasn’t an absorbing game). But always when play had stopped. Think he’s misunderstood something, or needs some Velcro boots

Stockdale basically admitting how his ultra time wasting was a devised policy here, because we'd done a "study" in how it breaks up play.
