Martin O'Neill: On Days Like These
The great man has written his autobiography

When I read the blurb...
As a manager, O’Neill’s celebrated leadership of Celtic saw them win seven trophies, including three Scottish Premier League titles; and in England he successfully led Leicester City to two League Cups and Aston Villa to an unprecedented three consecutive top six Premier League finishes. He oversaw the Republic of Ireland reaching the Euros in 2016, when they made it to the second round for the first time in their history.
...I put my boot through my laptop and sent Macmillan the bill.

Surely everyone who reached the second round in 2016 did it for the first time in their history? 🤷♂️
Football: Began in 1992, and there are faint rumors of something further down below the second tier.
I hope he reads the audio book version himself.
I thought three successive top six PL finishes with Villa couldn't possibly have been "unprecedented" - but it actually was!
His Biography by Alex Montgomery came out a few years ago and was an excellent read.
I can hear it now "hoy-ever"
I've read a lot of Villa fans dismiss his work there, as down to a "Big" budget etc.
But look at what they've had since. They'd love a return to those days coming top 6!
An absolutely superb career though.
An all time hero here, Leicester and Celtic.
Managed the 2 main teams he played for.
Managed the team he supported.
Managed a nation.
Won a bunch of trophies.
Brilliant.
St. Martin has joined Twitter and talks about his new book.

Anyone attending the Ex-Players Association Dinner on Friday 18th November will be able to buy a signed copy from the man himself
They are also seemingly unhappy with the manner in which he departed.
Yep, a few days before the season started wasn't it?
Funny, because before he left, they were popping up everywhere on the airwaves complaining that he consistently failed to get them in the Champions League.
I have a feeling that Martin’s time on Twitter will not exceed the promotional period required by his publisher.
Nice words on his time with us.

Very enjoyable book, especially the Audible version. The downside of that format is the lack of photos and I'm told there is a rare/never-before-seen snap of the team before the Carlisle game in 93, resplendent in the green kit. I can't picture that photo at all so wondered if anybody had a scan or copy of that photo please?
@CindyIncidentally
Is that Duncan Horton as the only non household name there?
(Unless your household is in Falconwood)
Yes it is. Resplendent in the pacer kit.
What a day that was.
Thank you very much indeed, @Onlooker ! What a photo. Brings a tear to the eye.
i think it was @glasshalfempty and his quality but unfortunately short lived fanzine that had a "contribution to the cause" rating for players.
It'd take some work to find a picture with more combined contribution to the cause than that one.
Great photo
And there’s an idea for the next change kit.
Wonderful days
That kit ...
😍🥰🤩
Lot of revisionism going on about that kit. At the time it was described as looking like a tea towel, and old grumps were moaning about playing in the colours of Yeovil and Aylesbury.
Perhaps worst of all is that it wasn't even "our" kit. It was an off the peg vandanel number. Barnet had the exact same kit, just with a different badge.
All that said, it is a nice kit though.
We woz there. I was a middle middle-aged grump then but totally indifferent to the kit. I’d persuaded mrs micra that a weekend in the Lake District would make a pleasant break. Can’t recall for sure but I suspect the fact that it included a football match may have come as a bit of a surprise to her. I vaguely remember standing on a large grassy embankment and looking round to see mrs micra engrossed in conversation with a policewoman. Wonderful weekend.
That’s still my favourite Wycombe game. I had completely forgotten we played in that kit. It was a long day!!!
The locals were so welcoming and friendly. Was a wonderful day
Slightly different story for the play off game later in the season
