Yeah, of course. I think most people understand that any forum is just a small sample of those people - I don’t think anyone looks at the Gasroom and thinks we all like canals and steam trains.
I’m sure there’s lots of perfectly nice Wasps fans who are distressed to see their club in danger of going under and as I said in the first line of my post, I have the utmost sympathy with anyone who loses their job over this.
I just can’t not think about what I read on that forum, how Wasps treated our club when they were here and how they have conducted themselves in Coventry. Maybe I’m being unnecessarily hard-hearted, but I’d argue this is a case of an organisation reaping what its sown for many, many years.
Couldn't agree more. The owners / previous owners deserve everything they get. I have some empathy for employees and fans who it will have a major impact on.
However, they were ripped out of their community, much like MK Dons, and shouldn't be given any sympathy for it all going tits up.
This was always going to catch up with the professional rugby era eventually. It's madness the wages being paid versus income.
I think there are far more communities in this country that deserve our sympathy than a load of Mustard Cord wearing glory hunting band wagon jumpers. Im sure they can find another club/sport that they can attach themselves to.
If there are any fans left who followed them from Sudbury to Shepherds Bush to High Wycombe to Coventry i feel some slight sympathy for them, but still not much.
Just read that Wasps have made 167 staff redundant, very sad for those involved, but you have to wonder how a loss making sports team could possibly justify having that many staff in the first place.
The harm Wasps inflicted and attempted to inflict on this counties favourite sporting sons, should never be forgotten. I shall be cracking open a cold one, to celebrate their demise.
Good riddance to them and their arrogant, glory hunting chino and mustard cord wearing antagonists.
While there is a lot of negative feeling towards Wasps, I am genuinely sad to see Wasps downfall and demise Yes, I understand that they did a lot of damage to our club and pitch etc but I do feel for all of the staff, players and supporters involved. I did feel (very slightly) for the fans of Derby last season and how close they came to disappearing only because of fans and their players having no part in their downfall.
It all comes down to the owners of these clubs. Wile the EFL has a (weak) test to new potential owners, I think the government needs to step up to look at protecting top-flight professional sport. Apart from Football and it's multi-million pound TV deals keeping them afloat, all sporting environments are leaking money and they are all taking gamble after gamble to try and save themselves which needs to stop!
Examples include: Cricket and "The Hundred" & the cost of Test Match cricket, When England won the Rugby World Cup and not raising the profile in the right way, the silly amounts of money that football players are being paid, the list can go on

Yes, you're spot on with this.
Generalising any group of people is a dangerous game.
We all know the near disaster we got in with that club though.

Just bumping this truth

Following that progression I assume they will now set up home somewhere in Sheffield.
Pride Park would seem an appropriate home for a debt ridden egg chasing club!
Does anyone on here not like canals and steam trains?
The J-League club Avispa Fukuoka should be their next home as avispa means wasp.
That and it would be good if they could move 6,000 miles away.
On poor pests, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Seems like they'll lose their P share, which cuts them off from central funding from Premiership Rugby.
Is that why they've been taking the P out of everyone else for decades?

I feel the same about them as I do franchise. On the one hand fans will be gutted but they were complicit much the same as franchise fans.

Those made redundant include all the playing staff. Difficult to see that there can be any way back from this for them.
We could quite easily have been sat in the Conference with crowds of 3,000 in a 20,000 seater Wasps dome, paying for the privilege!
Unreal to look back.
Even that supposed re-inforced pitch became a mess. Funny that, with 16 stone savages wrestling and bundling on it,

I clearly remember reading the Wasps forum when the trust had taken over and we were struggling financially.
There was very little sympathy coming our way as they had gone onto bigger and better things.
That Wasps forum absolutely hated Wycombe and the Gasroom.
think someone must have told them what FORC stood for and it went downhill from there
