At the moment we can all agree to hold out for £5m (despite not even a hint of interest, let alone bids) , should his contract near the end, or we start to get bids around £1m then it all gets a bit more tricky.
It should not be doom and gloom when Mehmeti leaves, provided that we get his full market value (including a substantial sell on percentage) AND more importantly that we reinvest the proceeds wisely in strengthening the overall squad. This is basically what Brentford have done over recent years.
It will be a sad day, but I fully intend to follow his career closely even once he leaves - he is an absolute joy to watch and I would be tempted to buy a match pass to any Championship club he goes to if they were playing at a time we are not.
I love Eze, but there is always that sense that he was never really "ours" despite us giving him his league debut and him scoring his first league goals for us. With Anis, it feels more personal, and he should at least get close to 100 appearances even if he goes in January (he is at 78-79 now I think, so barring injury he would probably land in the low 90s).

The phrase ‘you don’t know what you’ve go til it’s gone’ has been reversed in a lot of this discussion. Some have him gone without really seeing what we’ve got.
It would be sad if he leaves, but also sad if he never does (for him) as it would mean he likely never reaches his PL ceiling unless we somehow get there. It is meant to be a compliment to his talent to say we are almost certainly going to lose him, not a dig at us.
I don't quite follow the logic of the last sentence - it is precisely because we see what we have got that we expect to lose him! If we genuinely thought he was no better than L1 standard we would expect to keep him for years yet.
Ah crap - my next message was going to speculate on him lining up in a World XI against the space invaders. I'll have to chamber that one.
Joking apart, that's a reasonable sentiment. On those lines there is a strong argument that the longer he gets to play with the likes of GMac, the better it will be for his long term development.
I think Hanlan is adequate, and Kaikai could yet flourish given a run in the team. Kaikai has been very unfortunate, looked brilliant in flashes but obviously not had his lucky break.
This is a fantastic point. He certainly did not look out of place in the Championship, even though he had slim pickings there too.
I noticed Sunderland fans talking about how they have been doing well in the second tier despite having a lot of similar players to the L1 side, and they put it down to having a style that is suited more to the space given at that level.
Currently in his second spell at Motherwell (on loan from Huddersfield) alongside fellow former Wycombe loanee Nathan McGinley. Aarons was both subbed on and subbed off before halftime in their last match, a 3-0 home defeat to Hearts.
Halan could be an unbelievable player if he had more consistency. On his day he is utterly unplayable, squirming through the opposite backline against seemingly impossible odds.
There was a moment Mehmeti was played through against Derby and had yards on the nearest defender, but couldn't get away.
It's that sort of situation Hanlan would have been perfect for.
Hope he's back soon, I always think he's very unlucky not to start for us. Has it all to do though, as Mehmeti has cemented that wide left position Hanlan perhaps has had his bets work for us in to date.
I think Hanlan is exactly the player for us to play down the middle when we want to change our game from the ‘bang it long’ approach to a much more possession style. He has a very good turn of pace, is a handful for any defender and is excellent on the ball.

One thing is for sure, you'd be more confident in the current management getting a decent fee for a player than a few years ago.
Very surprised he has not had an international call up yet, but once he gets a few caps to his name, that's an extra £250k on his valuation.
5 already, top scorer in the league currently has 6. If Mehmeti has 10+ by Christmas we'll definitely be receiving bids in January.

A player like Anis will be very difficult to replace. One player I hope we are looking at is Noah Chilvers from Colchester United.

I don’t bet often but just before pre-season started, I stuck some money on Anis winning the golden boot. Odds were 80/1!

We almost had 2 camps, the pro Aarons and Smyth camps. But the truth is both never hit anywhere near the heights their reputations promised.

Possibly an unpopular opinion and one that someone will "disprove" with stats, but I'd much rather have a fully fit Hanlan in the side than GMac.
