On the face of it given his value it is incredible we have signed him. I wonder how much he is good wage will be. Must have been quite a pay cut compared to what he has had Does anyone know any more about the injuries Mawson has had? Is it just injuries that have stopped him playing many games since Swansea or did he fall out of favour of struggle for form.
The interview with Mawson does perhaps give an insight into why we have re-signed so many ex-players. It’s brilliant that Ainsworth and Dobson keep the channels of communication open with former loanees like Mawson; and also brilliant that such players want to stay in touch with people at the club.
It also says a lot that Mawson always wanted to rejoin Wycombe. You might say he would say that after he has just re-signed, but I genuinely believed him.
Hes certainly in Turkey but not sure if he’s playing much. Signed a three and a half year deal so likely there for the foreseeable future.
Would be another one that ticks the bill in terms of players that might want to enjoy their football again but it’s also well publicised he’s had mental health issues as well. I think most of us would back Dobbo and gaz helping in both those areas though, if he wanted to come back. Big if though obviously.
Back to Alfie. I think he will start on the bench today and suspect he will replace Forino at around 65 mins. Chris will probably need a few games to get back to match fitness and they seem to be playing it safe with him.
One of Gareth’s qualities is the way he takes the blame for a defeat never blames his players. You can understand why players come to our Club. Pure Quality
In public, yes, but I'm sure he wouldn't have a problem digging them out if he needed to. The quality or skill involved in doing so is choosing the correct moment, how its delivered, and to which players/personalities. I don't think just taking the blame unnessarilly (or even necessarily) is a "quality" as such. Anyone can do that.
Contrast that with mouthy Nathan Jones, who, on 3CR after Luton's defeat to Newport in the Carabao Cup, said he was embarrassed, and it was probably the worst performance he had ever seen in his time with the club.
Asked to elaborate, he said he actually meant that it was the worst individual performance by any particular player he had seen in his time there.
Stopped short of naming the player, but still demonstrated to me a huge lack of class.
I couldn't imagine Gareth saying anything even remotely similar.
I really must make a redoubled effort to see what it is about Sam Vokes that most people rave about. Can’t argue with 17 goals of course. Probably a dozen of them headers; Hanlan, Mellor and Al-Hamadi can’t compete with that. Forino and Mawson between them might.
Yesterday was a downer, but looking at things in a new day, Vokes, Mawson, Tafazolli, Scowen and McCleary are without any doubt amongst the best in the league in their position.
Mehmeti is growing to be.
Obita, McCarthy and Horgan are all starters a lot of top half teams would want too.
That's a superb position to be in.
We just need a morale booster midweek and we're back on track.

I’d love Pierre back!
And I saw him in the car park at the Milton Keynes semi final. Admittedly there were lots of ex players there supporting the lads!
I forget his name ridiculously, but the player Stockdale paid for a knee operation for?
He was at Wembley with a shirt featuring his own name!
Jacob Gardiner-Smith?
Which is crazy that Stoko paid as young Jacob is often on Insta having fancy meals out in town and in Dubai etc.
That's it.
I clocked the name on the shirt thinking that's an obscure player to get on there.
Then it dawned on me!
My 6 year old son just asked me "what position does Alfie Awesome play?"
Brilliant.
I'm also starting to wonder whether we might give Jordon Ibe a chance.
I do question his personality though - not that I know much about him but he has made a lot of misjudgments.
Seen a couple of videos of him training, one of which was in a Wycombe shirt,
I thought Jordan Ibe was playing in Turkey?

Possibly, but not in the short term.

Definitely.
He could have just left it at the "pleased to be back", "not come here to be put out to pasture" type standard sentiments.
It's also a key line when he said he wished his body felt like it did a few years ago.
Really hope we can manage him well.
We've done it so well with the likes of Charles, Kashket and others over the years.

I think he’s towards the end of his recovery from a broken leg.
Wasn’t his dad one of Corbin’s right hand men? Would have thought he had a few quid to pay for an op
Yep it was Barry Gardiner.

He’s in Turkey but not even given a squad number this season. He’ll be back by Aug 31st.
A Bristol CIty friend told me 'He is a great signing for you if you can get him out on the pitch,' suggesting injuries have hampered his progress.
Has anything changed since we didn't want him last time?

To be fair Gareth did say something along those lines on 3CR but said we sort it out in house and move on
He mentioned it was a mistake for the winner and their man was going to the corner to time waste.
Not surprised he was gutted like we all were.
We got away with the first game, battered last week and then to lose this one makes it a poor start to the season.
In a year with loads of rival teams.
As long as Vokes is back ASAP though nd either Taf stays or Mawson can match his performances we'll be strong.
To me it sounded more like he was trying to slag off the ref on the sly without getting fined, if you read this:

Am I beginning to see the light, I wonder?
I'll be kind as you are my oldest son and that.
But if you can't recognise the quality Vokes brings to us at this level there really is nothing anyone can say.
I agree with that @Malone. I am beyond redemption. And it’s very hot 🥵
