I just got that vibe when he goes back to the hotel room whilst other players get together. Each to their own though. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.
Either way, he's a VERY good player and is part of our spine.
When one of Taff, Scowen or Vokes doesn't play....its noticed.
I have no idea what goes on in clubs, dressing rooms or petrol stations, but watching Taff defend for us has been a privilege. He is so consistent, so imposing and so cool under pressure. If he found himself an upward move he should still be applauded on his way out of the door.
The Blackburn thing is something you've just made up in your head and you have absolutely no idea if it's true, you don't move on from your number 1 target "at the first sign of doubt" if you're still confident of getting him and Andrew Howard is still here.
The plan B being what? How long do proven keepers sit around waiting until the club who 'really wants them' has missed out on the loan keeper they really want? I suspect Tyla is plan B.
Totally agree, if we really are hanging on for Bishop or similar then why on earth have we not got someone in on a 1 month loan who is ready for League 1 football?
It feels like that 5-5 draw with Cheltenham to me, points dropped that were totally within our grasp. We did really well overall with important players out. I thought having Wing with Scowen worked really well as he adds so much more than Gape in an attacking sense, but as per my post yesterday we need a keeper the poor lad is nowhere near League 1 standard at all.
Also Forino looked like his muscle bulk has gone up a lot too! Looked a bit of a beast and bar 1x error near the end I thought he was excellent.
Sleeping on it overnight I can simply say that Shrewsbury did a Wycombe job on us. We had most of the possession but they stayed in the game and punished us at the end. They wasted time and played a deep defensive game, just like we have done away from home for the last 10 years.
Tyla is a great lad but he has been somewhat dropped into the deep end as we wait for Bishops move to happen.
Oward and upward and let’s hope that Tafazolli- Vokes - Gape - Hanlan - McCarthy and Thompson get fit soon.
I don't understand why so many posters on here are going on about a lack of a goalkeeper, as if that is why we lost. Tyla Dickinson was not at fault for either of the goals yesterday and did not do anything else I can remember that put us at risk of conceding. Yes, he doesn't have much experience at this level, but he'll only get that by being given the chance to play and to learn from it.
While I do think we'll see another GK bought in, as Tyla isn't yet ready for a full league 1 season, I just don't understand how anyone believes yesterday's defeat as because we haven't signed The GK.
We lost due to 2 poor defensive errors, from experinced players who will acknowledge their mistake, and because dispute dominating possession and chances we only actually scored once.
I don't think it was his fault we lost yesterday, but he looked very ropey again (e.g. that early ball across goal). No command of his area and that's obviously going to have a knock-on effect. Surely anyone can see he's not good enough.
Re Mawson coming on despite only signing on Thursday. Let’s not forget that he’s been training with us for at least a week, in fact Jase suggested on commentary yesterday that he’s been around the place for even longer. This wasn’t a case of he joined on Thursday and met the squad for the first time etc.
@Right_in_the_Middle You shouldn't use the term 'senile dementia' either. That's from a debunked misconception that serious mental degradation was a normal part of the ageing process. Appalling.
In the three League matches I think Dickinson has only made one decent save. That's mostly to do with being protected by our makeshift defence better than, on paper, he should've been. Another couple of times, including yesterday, the ball came into him and he parried it directly into the path of an onrushing attacker, who both times have then put the ball wide. He was at fault for that goal that was (in my view) wrongly disallowed on the stroke of half time against Bolton. But more importantly, he doesn't seem to control his defence, organise them, step out with confidence to claim crosses etc.
I'm not blaming him for any of this, he's young, inexperienced and doing everything we can ask on him when called on in these difficult circumstances. But I think that old truism normally applied to politics - a fish rots from his head - applies here too. A football team rots from its keeper. Without a Stockdalesque figure to command, harry, control play and give confidence in the box, we can't expect to be anything more than a mid table team.
It's truly a problem that needs sorting. We've got the central defender issue solved (for now?) So now we need to put rocket boosters under the effort to get a deal for a decent keeper over the line.
No trawling. Just reading the match day element today and had to protest about your wording. Sorry. Found it offensive and not a term that should be used to describe anyones actions.

Not sure you can put any of the losses down to the absence of those 3 players.

We've been damaged by the chaos at Man United but clearly should have had a plan B. The Bishop deal was as good as done according to Bobby C.

I'm afraid that Fred will never return after the way he left

If came into the bus station it would get used more.

But we want a GK by Exeter on Tue, so let's hope we get it done.
I read that post quickly, @ReturnToSenda and thought you were saying we want a goalkeeper by Easter.
You'd hope so
Extremely harsh to describe Tyla Dickinson as looking very ropey!
Appalling stuff. Trying dealing with senile dementia in your family and then throw it around as an insult
People tend to use hyperbole when they become obsessed.
The only player I’d describe that way from yesterday’s game was Jack Young. A cameo to forget.

You've trawled back through this thread to pull me up on that? I know full well what dementia is like tyvm, you weirdo.
Ok, shaky, which is fine, but it doesn't do us any favours.

At a guess because 1 month loans don’t exist any more.

Think if you are going down that path it’s the world Senile that is the outdated part of that term.
